Job summary

Service Corporation International in New Orleans (Elmwood) seeks a degreed accountant for a highly automated team in the corporate office. Qualifications

• Familiarity with SEC reporting requirements and consolidation accounting required.

• Ability to prepare and present working papers and supporting documentation.
• Proficiency with PC software such as Excel, other Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• May prepare foreign currency translations.

• Respond to SOX and internal audit requests.
• Assist with special projects as necessary.

This accounting position performs a variety of technical accounting and/or auditing work, which requires the application of accounting theory and practices, to assist in ensuring all trust assets are fairly presented and reconciled through automation initiatives and process management.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performing and reviewing reconciliations
• Completing journal entries
• Preparing work papers, schedules and reports
• Ensures transactions are in accordance with applicable authority, policies, and procedures and are recorded consistent with acceptable accounting standards.
• Demonstrates or explains accounting practices and procedures as requested.
• Prepares accounting reports and supplemental schedules.
• Prepares analysis of inter-company relationships and transactions.
• Uploads journal entries on monthly basis.
• Prepares account reconciliations for department owned accounts.
• May prepare financial statements.
• May prepare foreign currency translations.
• Prepares various reports for compliance with GAAP regulations.
• Responds to SOX and internal audit requests as needed.
• Assists with special projects as necessary.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting from a university accredited by AACSB,
• Bachelor's degree in another field from a university accredited by AACSB combined with relevant accounting experience,
• or CPA.
