Job summary

Cherokee Nation Entertainment is seeking an Accountant I to apply accounting principles and assist in accurate financial reporting. The role collaborates with Finance, Purchasing, Inventory, and Accounts Payable to resolve coding issues and support variance analysis.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and 0–3 years of experience, with strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines; effective written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Review accounts and financial activity for accuracy and alignment with the chart of accounts.
  • Review invoice batches, inventory documentation, requisitions, and other financial transactions.
  • Identify expense coding errors and resolve discrepancies with Purchasing, Requisitions, and Accounts Payable.
  • Prepare and enter journal entries and ensure expenses are recorded accurately and on time.
  • Review financial reports for completeness and accuracy.
  • Assist management with variance reporting and analysis.
  • Support Finance with budget-related questions and accounting guidance.
  • Educate users on common accounting errors and suggest process improvements.
  • Manage multiple priorities under general supervision.

Job Description

The Accountant I applies accounting principles and established procedures to review financial activity and support accurate, timely financial reporting. This position works closely with Finance, Purchasing, Inventory, Accounts Payable, and other business partners to identify and resolve coding issues, assist with variance analysis, and promote consistent accounting practices.

Responsibilities
  • Reviews accounts and financial activity for accuracy and alignment with the chart of accounts.
  • Reviews invoice batches, inventory documentation, requisitions, and other financial transactions.
  • Identifies expense coding errors and partners with Purchasing, Requisitions, and Accounts Payable to resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepares and enters journal entries and assists in ensuring expenses are recorded accurately and within established deadlines.
  • Reviews financial reports for completeness and accuracy.
  • Assists management with variance reporting and analysis.
  • Supports Finance and business partners with budget-related questions and accounting guidance.
  • Educates users on common accounting and coding errors and recommends process improvements.
  • Manages multiple priorities and assignments while working under general supervision.
Qualifications
