The City of Brentwood is seeking a motivated Accountant I with strong accounting, organizational, and communication skills to support financial operations in the Parks & Recreation Department. Key responsibilities include budget development, cost tracking for programs and facilities, contract and vendor payments, and financial reporting related to recreational services, parks maintenance, and capital projects.
This position also serves as a liaison with the department's Landscaping & Lighting Assessment District (LLAD) consultant and supports essential financial functions for the City's LLADs. Responsibilities include maintaining LLAD financial records, monitoring assessment revenues and expenditures, assisting with annual LLAD budget preparation, coordinating required reporting, and ensuring compliance with applicable state and local assessment regulations.
As the department's dedicated accountant, the role supports fund accounting, fee structures, LLAD activities, revenue-generating programs, park development efforts, and seasonal or community-based initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong analytical skills, municipal finance experience, and a high degree of accuracy and initiative.
