Job summary

Trinity River Authority in Arlington, TX is seeking a staff Accountant reporting to the Controller. The role monitors accounts and ensures funds are expended in accordance with statutes and internal controls.

You will review records for GAAP conformance, maintain fixed assets and GL reconciliations, analyze revenues and expenditures, and assist with year-end construction accounting. A Bachelor’s in accounting and a TX driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
• No prior experience required; two years of progressive accounting and finance experience at the professional level preferred.
• Valid Texas Driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Review accounting records to assure conformance to statutes, statewide fiscal rules and accounting system procedures, policies and procedures, and generally accepted accounting principles.
• Maintain and review fixed assets, inventory audits and reconciliations to the General Ledger; verify asset existence and identification.
• Review financial system revenues and expenditures for proper classification and analyze transactions to resolve problems; propose corrections and adjustments as needed.
• Reconcile bond funds sources and uses of funds and GL to activities; prepare monthly Bond Status Report.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial reports including fund and grant reporting.
• Review, balance and prepare monthly General Ledger closures.
• Review budget to actual and take necessary action for budget amendments.
• Correspond with internal departments and agencies regarding status of projects, funding, reporting, and requirements.
• Determine proper capitalization on completed construction projects; assist in year-end construction accounting journal entries.
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as needed by the Chief Financial Officer.
