Job summary

OxyChem in Dallas is seeking an entry-level accounting professional to support financial reporting, cost analysis, and month-end close activities.

You will assist plant controllers, manage balance sheet reconciliations, and participate in audits while pursuing a degree in Accounting or Finance. The role offers training, development, and exposure to a dynamic chemicals business in a safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with minimum 18 accounting credits.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and timely reporting of information, analyze product cost data, monitor and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
• Assist plant controllers and perform multiple functions of cost accounting.
• Complete inventory accounting and reconciliations including LIFO/FIFO calculations and analysis.
• Contribute to month-end close processes and financial reporting for business segments.

In this entry-level accounting position that supports our OxyChem business in the Dallas corporate office, duties may include:

• Provide accurate and timely reporting of information, analyze product cost data, monitor/reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure integrity and accuracy of month end accounting close process.
• Support plant controllers and perform multiple functions of cost accounting
• Assist business and manufacturing locations with analysis
• Perform inventory accounting and reconciliations including LIFO/FIFO calculations and analysis
• Complete Physical inventory trips to plants/warehouses/terminals and subsequent analysis/reconciliation of the product count
• Perform sales & cost of sales analysis
• Provide support and financial close responsibility for business segments including preparation and consolidation of financial statements, payroll, fringe benefits, insurance, cash, and receivables accounting
• Analysis and monthly reporting of Balance Sheet and P&L account activity, as well as, cash flow forecasting, working capital and other sources and uses
• Provide support for internal audits, external audits, government, and tax reporting
• Provide support for SEC reporting (Forms 10-Q and 10-K) and assist with environmental, international and lease accounting and reporting
• Develop, recommend, implement, and document accounting practices to promote best practices, task automation, and efficiencies while following generally accepted accounting principles, internal controls, and financial policies
• Participate in safety programs, as applicable.
• Join in teambuilding events and training and be a valued member of the Accounting Team.

Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (min 18 hours of accounting credit)

• Must have a graduation date of Dec 2026– May 2027
• Must maintain minimum cumulative 2.85 GPAon a 4.0 scale
• Desire to pursue a career as an Accountant in the chemicals industry
