Job summary

The Associate Accountant at Southland Industries is primarily responsible for the fundamental aspects of the company’s financial recordkeeping, including recording transactions, managing accounts and reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and applicable laws.

The role processes financial transactions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable or payroll, maintains accurate records, resolves basic discrepancies, and answers internal and external inquiries.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• 0–3 years accounting experience preferred.
• Basic accounting knowledge required.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
• Confidentiality and discretion required.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Job description

The Associate Accountant is primarily responsible for the fundamental aspects of Southland’s financial recordkeeping including recording financial transactions, managing accounts and account reconciliation, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

• Ensure accurate and timely processing of assigned financial transactions which may include accounts payable, accounts receivable or payroll.
• Establish and maintain accurate and appropriate records to ensure data integrity and currency.
• Research and resolve straightforward accounting discrepancies and irregularities in a timely manner. Elevate more complex issues for resolution.
• Follow appropriate policies and procedures to assure that Southland maintains compliance with all state and federal laws as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Respond to internal and external customer inquiries in a timely manner.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience preferred
• 0-3 years of accounting experience preferred
• Basic accounting knowledge

Pay:Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For Virginia this ranges from$56,124.00 - $66,328.00plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.
