Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division is seeking an Accountant 2 to perform intermediate accounting duties with focus on general accounting, risk management and budget & rates. The role involves compiling reports, journal entries, and reconciliations for the general ledger and budgets, plus preparing TVA and pension-related reports.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting, 2 years of accounting experience, and a valid driver's license.

ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS: Compile/verify figures for various financial, statistical and budgetreports such as balance sheets, income statements, statistical, annual, budgetand pension reports. Prepare journal entries for recording information to generalledger. Reconcile general ledger/budget accounts to detail records; makenecessary correcting entries. Prepare TVA monthly financial report, monthlyreports of TVA insulation loan accounts, annual reports for TVA, financialinformation for AGA, pension computations and actuary reports and variousother reports. Develop/implement more complex procedures for new accounting/budgeting applications; consult with various areas to solve problems. Maintaindaily accounting detail information for entry to the general ledger and budget;maintain/control information related to pension payroll. Prepare various reportsand special studies as required.
