Staff Accountant

AVL North America Corporate Services team in Plymouth, MI is currently searching for a Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant is a detail-oriented role that handles all general ledger functions for multiple companies.

This role also supports finance regarding forecasting and controlling. Qualified candidates will ideally possess a Bachelor's Degree and 1+ years of experience (internships considered). Candidates must have strong attention to detail and communication skills, as this position communicates across various areas of AVL and globally. SAP experience is beneficial but not required. Microsoft Office experience, especially Excel, is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Run reports from banking websites and update cash tracking files with daily activity.
2. Prepare weekly cash forecasts using AR and AP aging reports and other data to provide visibility into upcoming cash activity and available funds.
3. Prepare payment runs for approved invoices due for payment.
4. Process accounts payable invoices and/or prepare customer invoices.
5. Reconcile intra-company bank and general ledger account activity, including posting necessary entries for pooled cash accounts (monthly).
6. Reconcile and clear credit card accounts monthly, matching expenses and charges.
7. Prepare sales tax returns for various companies.
8. Identify opportunities for invoice offsetting through affiliate invoice reconciliation.
9. Reconcile employee payable accounts and follow up with employees on balances due.
10. Assist with financial statement preparation and audit requests.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's or associate degree OR 2+ years of accounting experience required.
• Ability to analyze and present financial information clearly.
• High diligence and accuracy.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, Outlook.
• Understanding of ERP systems; SAP experience is preferred but not mandatory.
