Turlock Irrigation District is seeking an Accounting professional to perform a broad range of accounting functions, including the general ledger, payroll, project accounting, and accounts receivable. The role supports decision making with financial reporting and analysis, while ensuring compliance with District policies.

Under the direction of the Accounting & Finance Department Manager, to perform accounting functions, which include all phases of the general ledger, payroll, project accounting, and accounts receivable.

Usually exhibited by a person with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field from an accredited college or university.
No prior professional experience required. Experience in performing journal entries, account reconciliations and general accounting procedures is preferred. Relevant coursework, internships, research projects or applied experience in these areas is highly desirable.
Must be able to interact and communicate with internal and external customers orally and in writing.
Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management.
Must have knowledge of: generally accepted accounting principles and procedures; financial systems and spreadsheets. Ability to: analyze data and draw sound conclusions; and learn, interpret and apply principles, laws, and procedures involved in accounting functions.
Must have ability to: work independently and analyze routine and complex accounting issues and resolve them; and work cooperatively with management staff, employees, and those contacted in the course of work.
Must file a Statement of Economic Interest in compliance with Governmental Code Section 81000.
