Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. seeks a qualified analyst to drive Net Price Realization forecasting and business insights for Resource Industries. You will translate pricing actions, dealer behavior, product mix, and market dynamics into actionable NPR forecasts that support profitable growth.

The role requires collaboration with Pricing, Sales, Product Groups, and Finance, plus building automated tools and reports to communicate NPR trends to leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in pricing, commercial finance, sales analytics, forecasting, profitability analysis, or FP&A.
  • Experience developing business forecasts, scenario models, and performance reporting for a large organization.
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, data validation, and large-data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain NPR forecasts by analyzing pricing, sales, volume, product mix, programs, and market trends.
  • Monitor pricing performance against forecasts and explain drivers of NPR results.
  • Partner with Pricing, Sales, Product Groups, Commercial Teams and Finance to understand factors affecting NPR.
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc NPR reports for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Analyze sales, quotes, price realization, discounts, escalations, and market conditions to improve forecasts.
  • Develop forecasting models, scenario analyses, and assumptions for planning and outlooks.
  • Create, maintain, and enhance dashboards and reporting solutions consolidating NPR performance.
  • Evaluate forecast accuracy, identify root causes, and recommend process improvements.
  • Support monthly/quarterly/annual business reviews with NPR performance summaries.
  • Collaborate with global/regional stakeholders to ensure consistency of methodologies.
  • Balance priorities and deadlines while maintaining analytical accuracy.

You will work to drive accurate Net Price Realization forecasting and business insights for Resource Industries by translating pricing actions, commercial activity, dealer behavior, product mix, market dynamics, and sales performance into actionable forecasts that support profitable growth and informed business decisions.

What You Will Do:
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve Net Price Realization (NPR) forecasts by analyzing pricing, sales, volume, product mix, escalation, commercial programs, and market trends.

  • Monitor actual pricing performance against forecasts, identify variances, and provide clear explanations of drivers impacting NPR results.

  • Partner with Pricing, Sales, Product Groups, Commercial Teams, and Finance organizations to understand factors influencing realized pricing performance.

  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports that communicate NPR trends, forecast updates, risks, opportunities, and business performance to leadership and key stakeholders.

  • Analyze sales transactions, quote activity, price realization, discounts, escalations, and competitive market conditions to identify insights and improve forecast accuracy.

  • Develop and maintain forecasting models, scenario analyses, and business assumptions used for annual planning, outlooks, and strategic decision‑making.

  • Create, maintain, and enhance automated tools, dashboards, and reporting solutions that consolidate, analyze, and visualize NPR performance.

  • Evaluate forecast accuracy, identify root causes of forecast deviations, and recommend process improvements that strengthen reporting reliability.

  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual business reviews by providing NPR performance summaries, trend analysis, and actionable recommendations.

  • Collaborate with global and regional stakeholders to ensure consistency of assumptions, methodologies, and reporting standards.

  • Balance multiple priorities and reporting deadlines while maintaining a high level of analytical accuracy and responsiveness.

  • Communicate complex pricing, forecasting, and financial concepts clearly through presentations, summaries, and discussions with business leaders.

  • Apply critical thinking and business acumen to assess risks, opportunities, and alternative scenarios that support profitable growth.

What You Will Have:
  • Pricing and Commercial Finance Knowledge: Working knowledge of pricing strategies, margin management, commercial transactions, market dynamics, and financial performance measurement.

  • Forecasting and Financial Analysis: Ability to develop and maintain forecasting models and translate data into actionable business insights.

  • Data Analytics: Demonstrated ability to analyze large datasets, identify meaningful patterns, and support data‑driven decision‑making.

  • Accuracy and attention to detail: Demonstrated ability to process detailed information accurately, use cross‑checking methods, and balance speed with quality.

  • Analytical thinking: Ability to investigate discrepancies, identify possible causes, break complex issues into components, and select an appropriate analytical approach.

  • Managing multiple priorities: Ability to organize concurrent assignments, respond to changing priorities, and maintain progress against recurring deadlines.

  • Decision‑making and critical thinking: Ability to obtain and organize relevant information, clarify concerns, assess alternatives, and support informed decisions.

  • Effective communication: Ability to prepare reports and presentations and explain financial information in language appropriate for the audience.

Top Candidates Will Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a closely related discipline.

  • Experience in pricing, commercial finance, sales analytics, forecasting, profitability analysis, or financial planning and analysis.

  • Experience developing business forecasts, scenario models, and performance reporting for a large, complex organization.

  • Advanced spreadsheet skills, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, data validation, and large‑data analysis.

  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Snowflake, SQL, SAP, or similar reporting and analytics platforms.

  • Experience automating reporting processes and creating dashboards that improve business visibility and decision‑making.

  • Strong understanding of price realization, margin performance, sales trends, and commercial performance drivers.

  • Knowledge of mining, construction, industrial equipment, manufacturing, or dealer‑distribution business models is highly desirable.

Summary Pay Range:

$112,710.00 - $169,060.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
