Sandia Area Federal Credit Union in Albuquerque, NM is seeking an Accountant to balance and reconcile the general ledger and daily cash accounts. You will assist in month-end close, prepare monthly financial reports, and maintain internal controls within a standards-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial statements, board reports, tax reports, escheatment reports and other reporting.

• Maintain cash and bank accounts by verifying transactions and reconciling accounts.
• Balance subsidiary accounts for Fixed Assets, Prepaid Expenses, and other balances; research differences and post corrections.
• Assist with month-end closing activities and other accounting functions as directed.

This role assists in preparing month-end close processes and monthly financial reports, while adhering to established policies and procedures. The accountant may prepare other accounting reports and perform other duties as needed to support the department.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial statements, board reports, tax reports, escheatment reports, and other reporting as assigned.Maintain accounting controls by preparing entries for assets, liability, capital accounts, new and mature investments, and other financial institution accounts.Maintain cash and bank accounts by verifying transactions, making necessary adjustments, and reconciling accounts.Balance subsidiary accounts for Fixed Assets, Prepaid Expenses, and others by maintaining schedules, researching differences, and posting reconciling and correcting entries.Assist with verification of entries to the general ledger daily and balance the daily Credit Union transactions to all cash accounts, including clearing accounts and the daily deposit.Resolve problems by researching and clarifying the problem, determining the cause, selecting the best solution for resolution, and expediting the correction or adjustment. Work with accounting management and other departments to determine the root cause of reconciling issues and recommend new processes to correct the underlying issue.Assist with month-end closing activities and other accounting functions as directed.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)Expertise in GAAP at an intermediate level is required.
