Job summary

Express Identification Products seeks an experienced Accountant to oversee the full accounting cycle under GAAP, using QuickBooks Desktop to maintain accurate records for a small manufacturing team in San Diego.

You will manage A/P, A/R, inventory, tax compliance, and assist with budgets and audits while upholding confidentiality and owning your work.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on full-charge accounting experience, preferably with aerospace & defense contractor or high-end manufacturer.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop required.
  • Expert GAAP accounting knowledge and experience, including complex journal entries.
  • Ability to interpret accounting guidance, evaluate financial information, and apply professional judgement.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong ownership, independence, and communication across levels.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities, including A/P, A/R, recording journal entries, debits and credits, maintaining the general ledger, account reconciliations, quarterly inventory accounting, and monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings in accordance with GAAP.
  • Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and coded to appropriate line items while supporting consistent application of accounting policies across the Company’s government and aerospace & defense customers.
  • Monitor daily cash activity and support effective cash management by maintaining accurate and timely accounting records.
  • Assist with preparation of required filings and compliance activities, including property taxes, sales & use taxes, workers’ compensation, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with other teams and business units to ensure all customer accounts are current.Reconcile daily orders shipped between QuickBooks Desktop and internal business management systems.Invoice for partial shipments, split-shipments, and international shipments.Invoice to customer portals such as Coupa.
  • Review, evaluate, and process credit applications for new customers.
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP for review by tax accountant.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and year-end audits.

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our growing organization. This role is vital in supporting our day-to-day accounting and business operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will be an expert in QuickBooks Desktop, with the ability to independently manage our full accounting cycle under GAAP principles. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the financial health of a dynamic, privately held manufacturer with 35 employees.The ideal candidate is a self-starter, detail-oriented, takes ownership of their work, proactively solves problems, and is willing to pitch in wherever needed to help the team succeed.

Because you will be working closely with executive leadership (CEO and COO) and handling sensitive financial data and personnel files, absolute confidentiality, discretion, and attention to detail are strict prerequisites for this role.This position will serve as a trusted steward of confidential financial information, company information, compensation structures, and employee data.

Experience, Qualifications, and Skills

Compensation
  • Base salary: $75-85k/year depending on experience and qualifications.
