Job summary

Western Alliance Bank, located in CityScape, seeks an Accountant to assist with accounting and financial reporting. You will work with Financial Reporting Managers and staff to complete schedules, journal entries, reconciliations, and SOX compliance.

The role requires 3+ years in accounting/finance, a bachelor’s degree, and strong Excel skills. MBA preferred. There is risk oversight and interaction with auditors, regulators, and management.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Accounting/Finance or similar field.
• Introductory knowledge of SEC rules and regulations.
• Intermediate understanding of GAAP and Financial Reporting.
• Intermediate communication skills in writing and speaking.

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial schedules and analysis for SEC and regulatory reporting.
• Prepare journal entries and month-end close documentation.
• Support accounting department needs across multiple areas.
• Support inter-company accounting and revenue recognition.
• Interface with management, external auditors, and regulators on SOX requirements.

What youll do:

The position of Accountant is responsible for assisting with the accounting and financial reporting of the Company. This position works closely with the Financial Reporting Managers and other accounting staff to complete projects, prepare SEC and regulatory financial reporting schedules and will also perform various accounting duties including: preparation of financial statement schedules, operational accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, transaction analysis, standalone entity accounting, inter-company accounting, and ad hoc projects. This position also ensures compliance with SOX, all policies and procedures and all applicable state and federal banking regulations.

• Prepare financial schedules and analysis that comprise SEC and regulatory reporting.
• Prepare journal entry supporting documentation as part of the month-end, quarter-end and annual close process.
• Provide support to all assigned areas in the Accounting Department where service or assistance is needed.
• Support legal entity accounting, including application of customer payments and revenue recognition
• Interface with management, external auditors and regulatory agencies concerning accounting and SOX requirements.

What youll need:

• 3+ years of related experience in Accounting, Finance (GL Mgmt., Public Reporting, Analysis) or similar field.
• Bachelor's degree in related field required; Masters or MBA in related field preferred.
• Introductory knowledge of applicable SEC rules and regulations.
• Intermediate understanding of GAAP and Financial Reporting.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Intermediate speaking and writing communication skills.
