The Accountant is responsible for performing the general accounting and financial duties for the Colleges and LSSC Foundation, including recording the pre-award and post-award grants. Prepare journal entries and process accounting and budget transactions throughout the year. Performs a broad range of accounting duties that require knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and Governmental Accounting Standards Board statements. Responsible for promoting and sustaining a collegial, respectful, and high-performing work environment for all employees.

- Assist in preparing month-end and fiscal year-end closing and reporting processes in preparation for the Annual Financial Report for both the College and Foundation.
- Assist in maintaining the property management database.
- Assist in budget preparations.
- Reconciliation of all general ledger accounts
- Serve as backup for Accounts Payable processing/disbursing vendor checks when needed.
- Prepare invoices and billings.
- Process employee travel reimbursement requests according to LSSC policies and procedures.
- Assist with the preparation of audit schedules.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and the ability to become proficient in MS Teams.

Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in an administration/accounting position, preferably in a two-year college/university setting.
- Evidence of analyzing financial data for reporting purposes.
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution.
- Banner or similar ERP experience.
