Location: Manufacturing plant in Northwest Indianapolis, Indiana

Schedule: Average of 20 hours per week initially, with anticipated growth into a full-time role

About the role

Tecfire USA is seeking a detail-oriented accountant to support our growing fire-rated glass systems business. This hands-on position will manage day-to-day accounting, maintain accurate financial records, and help strengthen our accounting processes as our manufacturing operations expand. The role begins at an average of 20 hours per week and is expected to grow into a full-time position as business needs increase.

The ideal candidate brings 2-3 years of accounting experience, familiarity with QuickBooks, and a solid understanding of accounting fundamentals. Practical knowledge of sales and use tax requirements across the United States is particularly important, including the ability to research state-specific requirements and work with our outside tax advisors when needed.

Key responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate accounting records in QuickBooks, including transaction entry, account coding, and supporting documentation.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor invoices, customer billing, payment tracking, and follow-up on outstanding balances.
  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts and assist with month-end closing and financial reporting.
  • Review employee expenses and organize receipts, invoices, and other records for reporting and audits.
  • Support multistate sales and use tax compliance by reviewing transaction taxability, maintaining resale and exemption certificates, tracking filing deadlines, and preparing or coordinating returns.
  • Monitor sales tax nexus and registration requirements as sales and operations expand, and coordinate complex questions with outside accounting or tax advisors.
  • Assist with project cost tracking, inventory accounting, and reconciliation of material, freight, and other manufacturing expenses.
  • Prepare records for external accountants, tax filings, and audits; help improve accounting procedures and internal controls.
Required qualifications
  • 2-3 years of relevant accounting experience and a solid foundation in bookkeeping, reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. multistate sales and use tax requirements, including resale exemptions, exemption certificates, nexus, and filing obligations.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage deadlines independently.
  • Clear communication skills, discretion with confidential financial information, and willingness to work closely with a small, growing team.
  • Availability to support an average of 20 hours per week initially and interest in transitioning to full-time employment as the role expands.
Preferred qualifications
  • An associate or bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field; experience in manufacturing, construction materials, or project-based accounting; and experience supporting sales tax filings or audits in multiple states.
