MAHUBE-OTWA Community Action Partnership is actively recruiting an Accountant. We are seeking a motivated, self-start in Detroit Lakes, MN to manage funding and strengthen communities.

Pay is $34.05 per hour, with non-exempt status, day shift, full-time; partial remote work is available. The Accountant will lead hands-on accounting, maintain records, support general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, budgeting, payroll, and audit preparation, and assist in grant/contract management within the

• BA or BS in accounting/Finance required with 1–3 years in non-profit/governmental accounting; master's degree preferred.
• Knowledge of GAAP, Fund Accounting and OMB required.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to explain and convey information.
• Strong math, analysis, and problem-solving skills; attention to detail.
• Must be able to handle multiple tasks, stay organized, and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provide accounting leadership and maintain financial records and reports.
• Support grant/contract management and monthly accounting cycle (GL, AP, fixed assets, AR, cash).
• Assist with budgeting, payroll, and audit preparation.
• Support the Fiscal department with day-to-day accounting and data transactions.

The accountant provides hands on accounting leadership and must be able to efficiently maintain financial records and reports and perform account reconciliation. Supports the Agency in grant/contract management; the monthly accounting cycle to include general ledger, accounts payable, fixed asset, accounts receivable and cash management; budgeting; payroll; and audit preparation. The position supports the Fiscal department while performing day-to-day accounting, data transactions, and operations for the department.

Pay: $34.05

Schedule: Non-Exempt, Day Shift, Monday – Friday, Full-Time

Requirements

• BA or BS in accounting/Finance required. One (1) to three (3) years of previous accounting experience in non-profit/governmental accounting or master's degree preferred.
• Knowledge of GAAP, Fund Accounting and OMB required.
• Ability to assist in evaluating fiscal systems – identifying measures and actions needed to improve or correct operations.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to explain and convey information.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, stay organized, manage time, and meet multiple deadlines.
• Strong computer knowledge and experience including Microsoft Office Suite, databases, internet and email; ability to learn program specific fiscal software - Abila MIP software preferred.
• Excellent mathematics, calculations, comprehension, and problem-solving skills to analyze, report and convey accurate and timely financial information. With attention to detail, must have the ability to gather information/data and present in various formats.
• Must be able to honor private/confidential information.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must qualify work in fiscal through DHS NetStudy or other acceptable clearance.
