Job summary

The Bolton Group in Vermont seeks an Accountant to support day-to-day accounting activities within a manufacturing environment. You will assist with month-end close, prepare reconciliations, and help ensure GAAP compliance and internal controls.

The role offers growth within the accounting team as responsibilities develop and includes involvement in budgeting, variance analysis, and ERP data updates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• 2+ years of accounting experience.
• Basic understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Familiarity with cost accounting or inventory concepts in manufacturing.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and willingness to learn additional tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities.
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Help ensure financial reports are accurate and on time.
• Support general ledger and chart of accounts maintenance.
• Track accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and intercompany activity.
• Follow GAAP and internal accounting policies.
• Support internal controls and external audits.
• Collaborate with AR, AP, Cost Accounting, and Operations.
• Provide budgeting and forecasting support and basic financial analysis.
• Assist with ERP data entry and system updates.

Job description

The Accountant supports day‑to‑day accounting activities and helps maintain accurate financial records. Working within a manufacturing environment, this role assists with the month‑end close process, prepares reconciliations, and supports compliance with GAAP, and internal controls. This position offers lots of growth within the accounting team as skills and responsibilities develop.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Help ensure financial reports are completed accurately and on time
• Support the maintenance of the general ledger and chart of accounts
• Assist with tracking accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and intercompany activity
• Follow GAAP and internal accounting policies
• Support internal controls
• Assist with external audits, DCAA reviews, and basic tax support
• Provide documentation support for SOX activities, if needed
• Collaborate with AR, AP, Cost Accounting, and Operations
• Provide support for budgeting and forecasting tasks
• Provide basic financial analysis and variance explanations
• Support ERP data entry and system updates

WHO YOU ARE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
• 2+ years of accounting experience
• Basic understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
• Familiarity with cost accounting or inventory concepts, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and willingness to learn additional tools
• Strong analytical skills with ability to organize and prioritize work
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
