As part of the Global Operations Team - all business professionals at the firm - you'll collaborate with colleagues from varied backgrounds and experiences, fostering an environment where cross-functional learning, networking, and collaboration are at the core of what we do. Here, we're not just supporting a law firm; we're partnering with attorneys and clients to deliver cutting-edge solutions in high-stakes litigation and dispute resolution, world-class regulatory compliance and advisory services, and complex transactions. Our commitment to integrity, ingenuity, agility, and ambition drives us, and we're proud to have been recognised as the "Best Business Team" by The American Lawyer. This is your opportunity to grow professionally in a dynamic, global environment, surrounded by forward-thinking peers.

The Staff Accountant supports the GL accounting team with day-to-day accounting activities, including financial transactions, month-end close, bank and general ledger reconciliations, budgeting and forecasting support, financial reporting, banking transactions, and year-end audit and tax schedules. The role also supports process documentation and improvement, identifies opportunities to increase efficiency and automate routine tasks, provides backup coverage across the team, and works collaboratively across departments to ensure accurate and timely financial information.

What You Will Do:
  • Substantiate financial transactions by reviewing supporting documentation to ensure transactions are properly approved, documented, and charged/credited in accordance with firm policies.
  • Support the monthly close process by completing assigned tasks timely and investigating variances as needed.
  • Prepare and reconcile monthly bank and general ledger accounts on a timely basis, investigate variances and reconciling items, and ensure appropriate resolution.
  • Participate in and support the budgeting and reforecasting processes for accounts owned or maintained by the Accounting team.
  • Prepare various financial transactions, reconciliations, and reporting, including VAT filing support, statutory book trial balance preparation, and journal entries.
  • Assist with the preparation of internal financial reporting, including financial statements, account activity, and monthly financial analyses as needed.
  • Support Treasury and Accounts Payable with day-to-day banking transactions, including wires, ACH, SEPA, Bacs, and transfers across multiple banking platforms and currencies.
  • Assist with year-end schedules and analyses for external auditors and tax preparers for domestic and international entities.
  • Document current procedures and recommend improvements to internal controls and productivity.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and automate routine processes and tasks.
  • Provide backup support for other team members and develop working knowledge outside assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Communicate effectively across teams and meet established deadlines.
Who You Are:
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-level customer service environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of tasks while maintaining attention to detail and appropriately prioritizing responsibilities.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with individuals at all levels of the firm.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and apply departmental policies and procedures.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze financial activity and investigate variances or unusual transactions.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work across teams and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Process improvement mindset with an interest in identifying efficiencies and automation opportunities.
  • Knowledge of Aderant Expert financial software is a plus.
  • Experience with international transactions is a plus.
  • Experience with process improvement and automation is preferred, particularly someone comfortable identifying opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve existing workflows.
