Bascom Hunter is seeking a Staff Accountant in Baton Rouge, LA, specializing in government cost accounting and with expertise in Deltek Costpoint. The role focuses on accurate financial reporting, GL maintenance, and cost allocations for government contracts.

The candidate will support budgets, CAS/FAR compliance, audits, and collaboration with project teams to drive financial insights and accuracy in a dynamic aerospace/defense environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience with government cost accounting.
• Proficiency in accounting software; Deltek Costpoint is a plus.
• Knowledge of CAS and FAR is a plus.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and ability to work independently.
• Proficiency in Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, analyze, and report financial data accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with government regulations and company policies.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Support the development and monitoring of budgets, forecasts, and cost allocations.
• Ensure compliance with government cost accounting standards (CAS) and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
• Prepare and review cost reports, invoices, and other financial documents for government contracts.
• Conduct audits and reviews of financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Collaborate with project managers and other departments to provide financial insights and support for decision-making.
• Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations as needed.
• Continuously improve accounting processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
