Job summary

Brookfield Asset Management Inc in Baltimore, MD is seeking an experienced accounting professional to support monthly close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience in a corporate environment; or 1–2 years in public accounting.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
• Proficiency in Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and advanced formulas.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail with ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger under U.S. GAAP.
• Perform monthly reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare supporting schedules for financial reporting and management analysis.
• Analyze financial transactions and ensure proper accounting treatment.
• Support fixed asset accounting, prepaid expenses, accruals, and balance sheet accounts.
• Assist with audit schedules and respond to auditor requests.
• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
• Collaborate with Finance, FP&A, Operations and other partners to resolve issues and improve processes.
• Assist with process improvements, automation, and implementation of best practices.
• Support special projects and ad hoc financial analyses as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• One of the following:
• Three (3) or more years of progressive accounting experience in a corporate or industry environment; or
• One to two (1–2) years of public accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and fundamental accounting principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and advanced formulas.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred

• CPA designation or active progress toward CPA certification.
• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics.
• Experience with account reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end close.
• Experience in the renewable energy, infrastructure, utilities, or project-based industries.
