Make a direct difference in how employers and members experience their health plan. As an Account Specialist, you’re the engine behind smooth new-business wins and seamless renewals—coordinating details, timelines, and cross-team execution so groups are set up correctly, questions are answered fast, and relationships stay strong. Your work helps producers and account teams deliver on their promises, reduces friction for clients, and ultimately supports Premera’s mission by connecting more people to coverage they can count on.
The Account Specialist position contributes to Premera’s success by coordinating and participating in the necessary activities to sell new business and/or retain existing business across multiple regions. The Account Specialist is responsible for partnering with New Sales and Account Management team to ensure that the documents, processes, procedures, systems and timelines are met during sale and set-up. The Account Specialist furnishes personalized, proactive, preemptive and reactive customer support and service ensuring Premera’s client groups have a positive customer experience. The Account Specialist is expected to manage a large number of complex transactions, must be comfortable with deadlines and have experience working cross-functionally. This role is generally assigned to small and/or medium size groups or to accounts requiring a moderate level of service.
You will continue to learn how to influence without authority—getting Sales, Account Management, Underwriting, and Ops aligned so work moves on time and nothing falls through the cracks.
You will build the ability to spot upstream risks early (missing data, timing conflicts, policy constraints), prioritize quickly, and keep complex workstreams moving under tight deadlines.
Beyond fixing issues, you will gain skills in diagnosing why something happened, documenting it clearly, and preventing repeat problems through better process or communication.
You will continue to develop confidence translating technical/administrative details (rates, eligibility, effective dates, plan changes) into clear, calm explanations that build trust with producers and employer groups.
You will strengthen your ability to work in CRMs and quoting/reporting tools with precision—learning what "clean data" looks like and how it impacts downstream teams and customer experience.
