Job summary

OneMain Financial in Evansville, IN is seeking a collections specialist to initiate contact with customers on charge-off accounts, negotiate settlements, and manage documentation in the system. You will work to meet QA standards in a goal-oriented environment.

Compliance with FDCPA and state regulations is essential, along with strong communication and negotiation abilities. The role is in-office with a structured schedule and benefits as outlined by the company.

In the Role

Initiate contact with customers via telephone regarding charge off accounts while arranging repayment and/or settlement of accounts in accordance with all applicable laws, policies, and procedures

Negotiate with customers to resolve accounts.

Maintain and notate all appropriate information and documentation regarding customer and account status on computer system and provide same to others involved with collections of accounts

Meet departmental call and QA standards

Work in a goal-oriented environment to meet production indicators.

Maintain compliance with FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) and state regulations

Business Hours and Schedule

Business hours are Monday through Thursday 7A-7PM. Friday 7AM-5PM, and Saturdays (closed first Saturday of the month) 8AM-12PM.

Schedule requirements are 1 night a week until 7PM, 1 Friday a month until 5PM, 1 Saturday a month 8-12, and a flexible schedule thereafter

Requirements

• Education - High School diploma or GED
• An in-depth understanding of collections and negotiation skills
• Strong negotiation skills to resolve escalated calls
• A high degree of self-management to successfully prioritize workday
• Excellent communication, persuasion and problem-solving skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and sensitive information

Preferred

• Collections / Call Center experience strongly preferred
• Sales experience is desirable
