Job summary

Flock Freight, headquartered in San Diego, is seeking an Account Manager to support customer relationships and daily freight operations. You will quote, approve or reject freight to maximize profitability and host quarterly business reviews with customers.

This hybrid role emphasizes ownership, proactive engagement, and KPI delivery within a fast-paced freight environment. The position targets candidates local or willing to relocate to the San Diego area, offering a salary range plus commission

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and 3+ years of Freight/Logistics experience.
• Strong ability to prioritize and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated sense of urgency and accountability when responding to customer needs.
• Proven problem-solving skills with a focus on ownership and driving issues to resolution.
• Comfortable multitasking across projects, stakeholders, and shifting priorities without losing attention to detail.

• Arrange and host quarterly business reviews with key decision-makers.
• Own day-to-day operational needs including escalations and issue resolution.
• Focus on load board management, coverage execution, escalation management, and timely issue resolution.
• Ensure billing accuracy including rate management, surcharges, and collections.

Team/Department Overview

Account Management Team – Reporting to the Manager of Account Management, SD-BD-2.

Key Responsibilities

• Partnering with our Account Executives to support our relationships with customers, particularly by servicing day-to-day customer needs.
• Conducting weekly touch points and engagement strategies with our key decision makers to identify expansion opportunities, proactively upsell, and ensure maximum wallet share.
• Maximizing profitability for the firm by quoting and strategically accepting or rejecting freight.
• Arranging and hosting quarterly business reviews with your key decision-makers.
• Extreme ownership of the daily freight factory operational execution; quote through invoice.
• Own the day-to-day operational needs and requirements of your customers, including handling escalations and resolving issues quickly.
• Focused on load board management, coverage execution, escalation management, and timely issue resolution.
• Ensuring operational execution for successful billing including; rate management, fuel surcharges, accessorials agreements, and resolving any outstanding billing issues, collections, or credit needs.
• Maintain SOPs for all customers, ensure service expectations are met, and execute on CAP plans as necessary.
• Possess deep knowledge of client's needs, challenges, communication styles, roles, and key decision-makers within each organization.
• Utilize relationship-building skills to delight our customers and ensure consistent delivery of KPIs and service metrics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree
• 3 + years of experience in the Freight/Logistics industry.
• Strong ability to prioritize and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated sense of urgency and accountability when responding to customer and business needs.
• Proven problem-solving skills with a focus on taking ownership and driving issues to resolution.

Compensation

The expected range for this position is $65,000 - $73,000 per year + commission opportunity with meaningful upside. This reflects typical earning potential in this role based on market data and individual factors including skill sets, experience, and geographic location. In addition to salary, full-time employees are eligible for an equity package and competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Flock Freight. We target candidates local or willing to relocate to Flock Freight’s San Diego headquarters.
