Job Overview:

APTIM's Energy Transition is seeking an experienced Account Manager. This position is based in North Carolina and serves as a primary conduit to the market, providing education and collaboration to stakeholders on behalf of the HOMES/HEAR program. APTIM's role is to develop and manage Home Energy Rebates created through the Inflation Reduction Act, including the Home Efficiency Rebate Program (HOMES) and the Home Electrification and Appliance Rebate Program (HEAR). The Account Manager will be responsible for networking with customers and stakeholders to drive program performance and goal attainment. Residential program knowledge and technical expertise in energy efficiency and electrification are required. This role reports to the Program Manager.

Our consultants collaborate proactively with clients to define and implement strategies around key business drivers, aiming to deliver high-impact projects that exceed expectations and meet client needs.

The successful candidate will support planning and operational activities for the programs, utilizing existing community partners and building a network of stakeholders and customers focused on energy efficiency projects aligned with HOMES/HEAR. The Account Manager will engage proactively with organizations to understand their goals and challenges and communicate how the programs can support them. This position is critical in informing strategic direction and driving new initiatives and energy savings.

This role is based in North Carolina, with frequent day travel within specific territories and occasional travel outside the area for conferences, events, and education. The Account Manager must be a critical thinker, excellent communicator, and relationship builder. The role requires accountability, process orientation, attention to detail, pragmatism, and flexibility to adapt to program needs. The individual should embrace collaboration, ownership, and problem-solving, working with passionate colleagues committed to clean energy and energy efficiency.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  1. Implement and verify federally funded energy efficiency projects within the team.
  2. Develop reports aligning with DOE requirements to provide operational insights.
  3. Identify opportunities with organizations to generate leads, layer services/rebates, and improve customer experience.
  4. Engage regularly with organizations via calls, emails, virtual and face-to-face meetings to promote HOMES/HEAR offerings and gather feedback.
  5. Lead initiatives to enhance customer participation and experience.
  6. Create and deliver presentations at conferences, community events, and professional organizations.
  7. Respond promptly to inquiries from customers, organizations, and stakeholders.
  8. Provide information, collateral, and contacts to deepen customer engagement.
  9. Monitor regulatory, policy, and economic factors affecting programs and advise leadership.
  10. Perform field QA/QC as needed within assigned territory.
  11. Travel frequently within North Carolina, with occasional overnight trips for conferences or training.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.
  13. Ensure compliance with quality, safety policies, and OSHA regulations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years industry experience.
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency and electrification programs.
  • Experience working with stakeholders such as businesses, contractors, utilities, community organizations, retailers, and equipment manufacturers/distributors.
  • Strong service orientation and ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent time and project management skills.
  • Quick learner with strong communication skills.
  • Understanding of energy efficiency, electrification, renewable energy, and relevant technologies.
  • Proficient in productivity software tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and data interpretation capabilities.
  • Excellent relationship management skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly within North Carolina and occasionally out of state.
  • Self-starter with organizational skills and ability to manage priorities.
  • Committed to a collaborative work environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint).

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including government entities, nonprofits, utilities, and multifamily properties.
  • Certifications such as CEM, BPI, QCI, PMP, or similar.
  • Over 3 years of experience in the energy efficiency industry.

Current pay range estimate: $90K-$110K, dependent on experience, education, skills, location, and market factors.
