Job Overview

Ingersoll Rand’s Compression Systems and Services Customer Center is hiring a General Line Account Manager to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the Customer Center equipment sales and service activity for a specific territory in South Texas. Traveling in a defined geographic area, this includes quoting, strategizing, prospecting, and developing relationships to achieve revenue targets, maximize profits, increase market share, and maintain customer loyalty while achieving organizational goals. The position is a unique blend of supporting a major distributor and selling direct to customers.

Responsibilities
  • Generate Revenue – responsible for generating sales of equipment, service contracts, and service offerings with direct end users and partners in a defined customer base within a geographic area. Develop existing customer base and secure new, competitive accounts to expand Ingersoll Rand presence in the market.
  • Provide and design compressed air solutions to fulfill industrial customer needs. Products include compressed air equipment, accessories, turnkey installations, service contracts, parts, rental equipment, and energy audits.
  • Keep current with all product knowledge, industry standards, and required training.
  • Execute continuous‑improvement strategy and exceed customer satisfaction; achieve all assigned sales targets.
  • Develop People Capabilities – provide selling skills and product/services training for dealer sales personnel (as required) and personnel within the Customer Center. Partner with services team to understand products and services and anticipate customer needs.
  • Manage Cash – ensure all orders are error‑free with correct customer documentation, resolve disputes, and manage costs associated with selling efforts, including travel and entertainment expenditures.
  • Ensure adherence to safety rules, including vehicle safety and customer site safety, in the field and in the Customer Center.
  • Earn customer loyalty by collaborating cross‑functionally and leveraging support from the service team to troubleshoot issues or offer unique solutions.
  • Maintain the Customer Relationship Management database, recording order follow‑up activities, reporting requirements, and providing feedback on market conditions. Drive and track the sales pipeline of all account activity and provide daily reporting.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 4+ years of experience in an industrial sales business setting or successful completion of Ingersoll Rand Sales Development Program (SDP).
  • Bilingual in English & Spanish.

Preferences
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, business or equivalent.
  • Experience with Salesforce or another CRM software.
Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
  • Regional travel to customer sites within the assigned geographic territory.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months with no major or frequent traffic violations (including DUI, hit‑and‑run, license suspension, reckless or careless driving, or multiple smaller infractions within the previous three years).
  • Company vehicle and fuel card will be provided.
