Job Overview
Ingersoll Rand’s Compression Systems and Services Customer Center is hiring a General Line Account Manager to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the Customer Center equipment sales and service activity for a specific territory. Traveling in a defined geographic area, this includes quoting, strategizing, prospecting, and developing relationships to achieve revenue targets, maximize profits, increase market share and maintain customer loyalty while achieving organizational goals. The position is a unique blend of supporting a major distributor and selling direct to customers.
Responsibilities
- Generate Revenue – responsible for generating sales of equipment, service contracts, and service offerings with direct end users and partners. Provide and design compressed air solutions, keep current with product knowledge, execute strategy for continuous improvement, and achieve all assigned sales targets.
- Develop People Capabilities – provide selling skills and product services training for dealer sales personnel and customer center staff, partner with services team to understand products and satisfy customer needs.
- Manage Cash – ensure all orders obtained are error‑free with correct documentation, resolve disputes, and manage costs associated with selling efforts, including travel and entertainment expenditures.
- Ensure adherence to safety rules in the field and customer center.
- Earn Customer loyalty – collaborate cross‑functionally, partner with service team to troubleshoot issues or offer unique solutions.
- Maintain Customer Relationship Management database – record order follow‑up activities, reporting requirements, provide feedback on market conditions, and drive and track sales pipeline.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 4+ years of experience in an industrial sales business setting

Preferences
- Bachelor’s degree diploma in engineering, engineering technology, business or equivalent from a four‑year college or university preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
- Experience with air compressors or other rotating equipment highly preferred.
- Knowledge of Salesforce preferred.
Travel & Work Arrangements
- Regional travel to customer sites is required within assigned geographic territory.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including DUI in the previous 5 years, hit & run, license suspension, reckless driving, or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
