Position Summary

The Construction Account Manager is responsible for developing and managing relationships with general contractors, electrical contractors, construction firms, owners, developers, and other construction industry partners. This role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, developing project relationships, and securing profitable construction projects for Tech Electronics.

The Construction Account Manager will work closely with estimating, engineering, project management, operations, and leadership teams to develop solutions that meet customer needs while supporting company growth and profitability.

This position requires a strong understanding of the construction industry, excellent relationship-building skills, and the ability to manage opportunities from initial lead through contract award and project handoff.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, electrical contractors, construction managers, developers, owners, architects, and other key construction partners.
  • Identify and pursue new construction project opportunities within the assigned market.
  • Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of upcoming construction projects and opportunities.
  • Monitor construction plans, bid opportunities, project schedules, and market activity to identify opportunities for Tech Electronics.
  • Establish Tech Electronics as a trusted technology partner with construction customers and project stakeholders.
  • Meet with customers to understand project requirements, timelines, budgets, and technology needs.
  • Coordinate with internal estimating and engineering teams to develop competitive and effective proposals.
  • Review project specifications, drawings, bid documents, and scopes of work to identify opportunities and potential risks.
  • Lead the sales process from initial opportunity through proposal, negotiation, and contract award.
  • Prepare and deliver customer presentations, proposals, and solution recommendations.
  • Negotiate pricing, scope, terms, and other contractual requirements within established company guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate opportunity, customer, and sales activity information in the company's CRM.
  • Develop account plans and strategies to increase revenue and expand relationships with key construction accounts.
  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell and introduce additional Tech Electronics solutions and services.
  • Attend construction industry events, networking opportunities, pre-bid meetings, job walks, and customer meetings.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers throughout the sales process and ensure expectations are clearly communicated.
  • Partner with project management and operations teams to ensure a smooth transition from sold project to project execution.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends, construction practices, competitive activity, and emerging technology solutions.
  • Monitor competitive activity and market conditions and provide relevant information to leadership.
  • Achieve established sales, revenue, margin, and activity goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years of sales or account management experience, preferably within the construction, electrical, low-voltage, security, fire alarm, or technology industries.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with construction industry customers.
  • Strong understanding of the construction sales and project lifecycle.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to understand customer needs and translate them into appropriate solutions.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and CRM systems.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally and regionally as needed.

Preferred

  • Experience selling low-voltage systems, fire alarm, security, access control, video surveillance, or related technology solutions.
  • Existing relationships with general contractors, electrical contractors, construction managers, or developers.
  • Experience reading construction plans, specifications, and bid documents.
  • Experience with construction bidding and estimating processes.
  • Knowledge of construction project management and contracting practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Marketing, or a related field.
Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office environment as well as customer and construction-site environments. Regular travel to customer locations, construction sites, project meetings, and industry events is expected.

The position may occasionally require attendance at meetings outside normal business hours.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel to construction sites and customer locations.
  • Ability to walk construction sites and navigate stairs, uneven surfaces, and active job-site environments.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry materials or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to comply with applicable construction-site safety requirements and personal protective equipment requirements.
