JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary:

Maintain customer relationships at the purchasing, engineering, quality, marketing, and sales levels focused on implementing strategic and tactical customer account initiatives, while requiring minimal supervision and support.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead day to day account maintenance topics, responding to price requests, change requests, tracking Quality & Delivery performance and support product launch initiatives.
  • Support customer interactions that impact commercial aspects including quotes and written agreements.
  • Develop interpersonal relationships with key customer contacts.
  • Monitor sales order process and provide strong technical support on complex orders.
  • Possess a strong understanding of clients' businesses, industry, and organizational structure.
  • Establish short- and long-term sales plans using global on-line computer tools and based on interaction with Bendix CoC directors and the Account Team.
  • Assist open RFQ response by working with CoC's and purchasing.

Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of all areas in the transportation industry including Suppliers, OEMs, Fleets, Original Equipment Service (OES), independent distribution channels, etc.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of organizational sales policies and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of the operation, design and application of air brake and foundation brake systems and steering systems.
  • Strong knowledge of contracts and negotiation tactics.
  • Strong knowledge of marketing strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of computer-based programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Experience:

Account Manager 1:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in account management or similar experience.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in heavy vehicle industry required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with heavy vehicle brake systems or a minimum of 3 years brake system sales experience at a heavy vehicle OEM preferred.

Account Manager 2:

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in account management or similar experience.
  • 5 years’ experience in heavy vehicle industry required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with heavy vehicle brake systems or a minimum of 3 years brake system sales experience at a heavy vehicle OEM preferred.

Account Manager 3:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in account management or similar experience.
  • 5 years’ experience in heavy vehicle industry required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with heavy vehicle brake systems or a minimum of 3 years brake system sales experience at a heavy vehicle OEM preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong technical solution based selling skill set required. Must be able to address the customers technical needs.
  • High technical aptitude and business acumen in the commercial vehicle industry.
  • Customer first attitude, driven to build and prioritize customer relationships throughout the customer’s organization and within Bendix.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills including the ability to develop creative solutions that address customer needs.
  • Self-starter and strategic thinker for both short-term and long-term wins.
  • Must be able to partner with customers to develop actionable and strategic plans.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills required.
  • Strong professional presence, capable of influencing through interactions and follow-up.
  • Must be capable of building and using a strong network, team player and willing to work in a matrixed organization.
  • Capable of building and delivering professional presentations.
  • Ability to learn quickly in a short amount of time.
  • Must maintain an organized work area from a home office that allows for quick and efficient responses to the customer needs.
  • Very proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint a must.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Business or Engineering discipline preferred.
  • MBA a plus.

Travel Requirements:

  • Individual must be domiciled in the defined territory and must be located within one hour of major airport.
  • Must be capable of traveling 60% of the time to customer facilities, Bendix locations, and industry events.
