Job description

At TE, you will unleash your potential working with people from diverse backgrounds and industries to create a safer, sustainable and more connected world.

Job Overview

The West Coast Strategic Account Manager is responsible for driving profitable growth across assigned medical device OEM accounts throughout the Western United States. This role serves as the primary commercial interface between customers and TE Connectivity, building relationships across engineering, procurement, operations, quality, supply chain, and executive leadership. The successful candidate will combine medical device sales experience, strong technical credibility, and direct knowledge of contract manufacturing and CDMO business models. This individual will bring a growth-oriented hunter mentality, proactively opening doors, uncovering unmet customer needs, and converting complex technical opportunities into sustainable revenue. The Account Manager will execute strategic account plans by leveraging TE’s portfolio of engineered components, services, development capabilities, and global manufacturing footprint. The role requires the ability to work with cross-functional teams, influence without direct authority, and navigate long, technically complex sales cycles from early engagement through commercialization.

What You Will Be Doing
Customer Growth & New Business Development
  • Prospect actively within existing and new accounts, using a hunter mindset to identify applications, programs, stakeholders, and whitespace opportunities.
  • Own and grow a portfolio of target and high-potential medical device OEM accounts across the West Coast and Western United States.
  • Develop and execute account plans that support revenue growth, profitability, opportunity creation, and share-of-wallet expansion.
  • Create opportunities across engineered components, subassemblies, device assemblies, contract manufacturing.
  • Qualify customer needs, competitive position, technical fit, decision criteria, program timing, and commercial potential.
  • Develop and maintain a healthy opportunity pipeline, accurate forecasts, and disciplined activity records in Salesforce.com and other relevant systems.
Strategic Account Management
  • Serve as the primary interface between the customer and TE Connectivity.
  • Build trusted relationships at multiple levels within customer organizations, including engineering, R&D, sourcing, operations, quality, supply chain, and executive leadership.
  • Develop and implement strategies for assigned accounts to maximize revenue, profitability, customer retention, and long-term partnership value.
  • Work closely with TE design and manufacturing sites to ensure coordinated customer engagement.
  • Understand customer requirements, program milestones, and due dates, and drive internal alignment to meet commitments.
  • Lead pricing, proposal, contract, and commercial negotiations in partnership with the appropriate internal stakeholders.
Technical & Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Engage credibly with customer engineering and technical teams to understand device architecture, performance requirements, manufacturability challenges, and development priorities.
  • Translate customer needs into clear technical and commercial requirements for internal engineering, product management, operations, quality, and manufacturing teams.
  • Lead cross-functional account teams and coordinate resources to advance opportunities from concept and feasibility through validation, transfer, scale‑up, and production.
  • Partner with customers to develop engineered solutions using TE’s existing portfolio, development capabilities, and manufacturing competencies.
  • Influence internal and external stakeholders without direct authority to remove barriers, accelerate decisions, and deliver results.
Market & Industry Engagement
  • Maintain strong awareness of medical device market trends, customer investment priorities, competitive activity, and outsourcing strategies.
  • Identify growth areas within minimally invasive, interventional, cardiovascular, electrophysiology, structural heart, neurovascular, surgical, and other relevant medical technologies.
  • Represent TE during customer visits, business reviews, technical discussions, and industry events.
  • Provide actionable customer and market insights to support commercial, portfolio, and capability planning.
Required Qualifications
What your background should look like
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, Life Sciences, or a related discipline; a technical or engineering background is strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in medical device sales, account management, technical sales, or business development.

  • Experience in contract manufacturing, CMO/CDMO services, engineered medical components, device assembly, or integrated medical manufacturing solutions.
  • Strong technical aptitude and the ability to engage effectively with engineers and other technical stakeholders.
  • Proven success identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities with complex, multi‑stage sales cycles.
  • Working knowledge of medical device product development and commercialization, including design engagement, feasibility, validation, transfer, scale‑up, and ongoing production support.

  • Ability and willingness to travel as required, up to 75%.
Preferred Qualifications
