Job summary

Cell Signaling Technology in Danvers, MA is seeking an Account Manager to drive adoption of core product portfolio within academic research institutions across the US. You will build deep relationships with PIs, lab managers, and procurement teams, manage the regional sales pipeline, and hit quarterly revenue targets through tailored campaigns and strategic account planning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or related field.
  • 2+ years in technical sales, field support, or inside sales in life sciences.
  • Practical experience with antibody applications (IHC, Flow Cytometry, ELISAs, imaging).
  • Understanding of academic workflows, grant cycles, and discovery science.
  • Ability to manage complex sales environments and build long-term relationships.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and time management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM systems like Salesforce.
  • Hybrid schedule (min 3 days in office) with travel as needed.

The role...

The Account Manager (AM) is responsible for executing sales strategies and managing a regional portfolio of higher education institutions, universities, and academic research centers across the US to drive product adoption and revenue growth. This individual focuses on building deep relationships with Principal Investigators (PIs), lab managers, and purchasing departments, managing the sales pipeline, and achieving quarterly revenue targets for CST’s core product portfolio within the academic research sector.

Revenue Growth & Account Management (35%)
  • Achieve quarterly sales goals within an assigned territory.
  • Focus on promoting core products and executing defined sales campaigns tailored to university research workflows.
  • Navigate university purchasing systems, institutional contracts, and grant‑funded procurement cycles.
  • Accurately log all sales activity and opportunities in the CRM.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement (30%)
  • Establish and maintain relationships with technical end‑users (bench scientists, postdocs, graduate students), Principal Investigators (PIs), and academic procurement contacts.
  • Build strong partnerships with university shared resource facilities and core laboratories (e.g., flow cytometry cores, imaging cores) to explore institutional volume opportunities.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, ensuring exceptional customer experience through proactive communication and solution‑oriented selling that aligns with academic research goals.
Cross-Functional Collaboration (15%)
  • Partner with Sales, Product Management, Marketing, and R&D to deliver high‑impact engagement.
  • Provide customer feedback and trends to internal teams to support product innovation and service improvement.
  • Coordinate with technical/application scientists to address complex academic workflow needs and provide robust scientific support.
Market Intelligence & Strategic Insights (10%)
  • Gather and share market intelligence on academic research trends, Government, Private and Philanthropic grant organization funding directions, competitive activity, and emerging scientific needs.
  • Identify new business opportunities within university systems and inform commercial strategy.
  • Participate in local scientific conferences, university vendor shows, symposia, and customer meetings to stay ahead of industry trends.
Administrative & Compliance (10%)
  • Maintain accurate records, pricing agreements, and account documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with university purchasing guidelines, contractual obligations and ethical sales practices.
  • Manage expense budgets and submit timely reports.
Who you are and what you bring to the team…
  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in technical sales, field support, or inside sales in the life science industry.
  • Practical experience with common antibody applications (e.g., IHC, Flow Cytometry, ELISAs, High Content Imaging).
  • A functional understanding of academic research workflows, grant funding cycles and foundational discovery science.
  • Proven ability to manage complex sales environments and build long‑term customer relationships across various university departments.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and time management skills.
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and CRM systems like Salesforce.com.
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule (minimum 3 days/week in the office) and travel as necessary within the assigned territory, with occasional domestic travel for conferences and sales trainings and meetings.
Ideally, you have…
  • Master’s degree in Life Science or related fields or equivalent hands‑on academic research experience
  • Experience selling to or supporting academic, higher education or government research accounts.
  • Familiarity with university procurement processes, e‑procurement platforms and institutional buying groups.
  • Demonstrated success in high‑value solution and services selling or supporting academic research.
Physical Conditions/Physical Requirements…
  • The ability to perform repetitive motions with the wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • The ability to extend hands and arms in any direction to access materials, equipment, or a keyboard.
  • The ability to sit for long periods of time (often more than 70% of the workday).
  • Ability to view and read information from a computer monitor, reports, and documents.
  • Physically able to safely lift and carry 25 pounds to move, install, unpack PC equipment, office supplies, etc. as required
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for meetings, client visits, and company training (approx. 20‑30%).

This position has a starting base salary range of $109,000 - $154,000 per year, which the company, in good faith, reasonably expects to pay for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
