Job summary

HAHN Automation Group US is seeking an Account Manager to steward existing customers and expand relationships within the assigned industry vertical. You will lead the full sales cycle from needs analysis to contract closure and collaborate with Project Management, Engineering, and Service teams to ensure customer success and growth of aftermarket solutions.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Business, Marketing or related field.
  • 3+ years in account management, technical sales, business development, or CRM roles, preferably in automation or manufacturing.
  • Experience growing existing customer accounts with cross-selling and service opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned existing customers; expand relationships and upsell opportunities.
  • Oversee full sales process from needs analysis to contract closure.
  • Collaborate with Project Management, Engineering, and Service to ensure customer success and drive service sales.
  • Develop offers focused on pricing, negotiation, and coverage of commercial factors; coordinate with Applications Engineer.
  • Drive multi-year account plans aligned with roadmaps and investment cycles.
  • Maintain CRM pipeline, forecast revenue, and generate sales reports.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required for meetings and industry events.

Job description

The principal duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Management of assigned existing customers within an assigned industry vertical
  • Expansion of existing customer relations, identification of cross- and upselling potential
  • Management of the entire sales process from needs analysis to contract closure
  • Collaborate closely with Project Management, Engineering, and Service teams to ensure customer success while identifying and driving opportunities to grow service sales, with a focus on retrofits, relocations, and consulting services, and other aftermarket solutions
  • Development of offers for customers with target to receive PO. Focus on price setting, negotiation with customer and coverage of legal and commercial factors. Coordination with Applications Engineer
  • Negotiation of change orders in cooperation with Project Managers
  • Maintain deep understanding of customer manufacturing strategies, automation maturity, and competitive landscape
  • Act as the voice of the customer internally, escalating risks and opportunities early
  • Build and execute multi-year account plans (APs) aligned with customer roadmaps, capital investment cycles, and HAHN capabilities
  • Drive qualified funnel creation within the existing account base
  • Taking ownership of leads from respective accounts
  • Structured needs clarification, technical coordination, and quote creation
  • Ensuring fast response times and professional initial contact
  • Depending on seniority, the Account Manager handles the following activities: Responsibility for defined strategic target customers (Target Accounts); Development of individual account strategies (Stakeholder Analysis, Value Proposition); Proactive market development and systematic relationship building; Coordination of internal resources (Pre-Sales, Technical, Management)
  • Maintenance and development of the account and opportunity pipeline in CRM
  • Creation of revenue forecasts and sales reports
  • Contribution to market and competitive analyses within the region
  • Drive leads and opportunities through L2Q process and quotation desk
  • Travel required, including overnight travel – potentially domestic and international
Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience: 3+ years of experience in account management, technical sales, business development, or customer relationship management, preferably in automation, industrial equipment, capital equipment, or manufacturing

Additional skills:

  • Proven ability to grow existing customer accounts by identifying cross-selling, upselling, and service opportunities while consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets and fostering an atmosphere of trust, integrity, fairness, technical competency, and a sense of urgency
  • Strong understanding of customer technical challenges, complex technical sales processes, including needs analysis, solution development, proposal creation, pricing, contract negotiation, and closing
  • Ability to build and maintain trusted and collaborative relationships with customers, executive decision-makers, technical stakeholders, and cross-functional internal teams
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to understand customer manufacturing processes, automation strategies, and capital investment plans
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple customer opportunities simultaneously
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and sales forecasting tools, with a commitment to maintaining accurate customer and opportunity data
  • Self-motivated, customer-focused professional with strong analytical, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is willing to travel as required to support customer meetings, project reviews, and industry events Flexibility to work additional hours as needed to meet project requirements with the potential for frequent overtime/weekend hours

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
As a member of HAHN Automation Group US, applicants must be able to interact safely in a manufacturing environment. This includes:

  • Full body mobility with the ability to bend, stoop, climb, and lift or move 25 lbs. of weight
  • The ability to walk within restricted areas of the company manufacturing plant
  • Professional conduct in regards to hygiene and dress
  • The ability to read and prepare business documents as well as conduct business over the telephone in a sometimes-loud environment
  • The ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Valid driver’s license with driving record of acceptable risk as defined by HAHN Automation Group US’s insurance company
  • Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States now and in the future without employment visa sponsorship
