Job description
Who You Are
  • You thrive in startup environments where agility, innovation, and hustle define success. You’re a natural relationship builder who understands that healthcare is fundamentally about trust, connection, and improving lives. Rather than leading with features and benefits, you lead with curiosity about your customers’ challenges and a genuine passion for helping them deliver better patient care.
  • You’re mission-driven and energized by the potential of AI and molecular diagnostics to save lives and transform healthcare delivery. You see yourself as a bridge between vital departments — working seamlessly with clinical affairs, product development, and customer success to ensure every provider and patient receives an exceptional experience.
  • You have a hunter mentality balanced with a farmer’s patience. You know how to open doors, but you also understand that healthcare sales cycles require persistence, education, and trust-building. You’re equally comfortable presenting to a single physician or a hospital C-suite, and you view every interaction as an opportunity to advance both Viome’s mission and your customer’s success.
What You’ll Do
  • Territory Development & Pipeline Management Develop and execute strategic territory plans targeting concierge medicine and functional medicine practices within your assigned geography. Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified prospects through prospecting, networking, and referral development. Manage complex, consultative sales cycles averaging 6-12 months from initial contact to contract signature.
  • Relationship-Centered Selling Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to understand practice workflows, patient populations, and clinical challenges. Collaborate with clinical affairs team to design customized diagnostic solutions that address specific practice needs. Lead product demonstrations and educational sessions that showcase clinical utility and practice integration benefits.
  • Partnership Development Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with key opinion leaders, practice management companies, and healthcare networks. Represent Viome at industry conferences, medical society meetings, and regional healthcare events. Develop referral relationships with complementary healthcare technology vendors and consultants.
  • Customer Success & Growth Work closely with implementation team to ensure smooth onboarding and optimal utilization of diagnostic services. Monitor customer satisfaction and identify opportunities for expanded testing volumes and additional service offerings. Serve as voice of customer to internal teams, providing feedback on product development and service enhancement opportunities.
  • Market Intelligence & Strategy Maintain deep understanding of competitive landscape, regulatory environment, and reimbursement trends. Provide market feedback to inform product development, pricing strategies, and go-to-market approaches. Collaborate with marketing team to develop territory-specific campaigns and educational content.
What You Bring
  • Experience & Education Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in life sciences, business, or healthcare preferred. 5-10 years of progressive B2B sales experience in healthcare, with proven track record selling to healthcare providers. Experience selling laboratory developed tests (LDTs), molecular diagnostics, or similar clinical testing services strongly preferred. Demonstrated success in relationship-based selling environments with long sales cycles and complex decision-making processes.
  • Skills & Competencies Proven ability to consistently meet or exceed sales targets in competitive healthcare markets. Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with ability to translate complex scientific concepts for diverse audiences. Strong business acumen with experience developing territory strategies, forecasting, and pipeline management. Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and sales productivity tools. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Personal Attributes Entrepreneurial mindset with comfort operating in fast-paced, evolving startup environment. High emotional intelligence and genuine passion for improving patient outcomes through innovative healthcare solutions. Resilience and persistence required for navigating complex healthcare sales environments. Strong ethical foundation and commitment to compliance in regulated healthcare industry. Willingness to travel 40-60% within assigned territory and to company/industry events.
  • Preferred Qualifications Existing relationships within concierge medicine or functional medicine communities. Experience with value-based care models and understanding of healthcare economics. Familiarity with molecular diagnostics, genomics, or microbiome testing. Previous startup or high-growth company experience. Clinical background or advanced understanding of preventive medicine approaches.
  • We are an equal opportunity employer and do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or any other legally protected status. We value diversity, equity, and inclusion, and are committed to creating a workplace that reflects these values.
