Job description

ScholarshipOwl is the largest scholarship marketplace in the U.S., connecting over 14 million Gen Z students with private scholarships — and the brands that power them. Our mission is to make education financing more accessible and engaging, while giving brands a way to connect with the next generation.

We’re powered by AI technology that simplifies scholarship discovery, streamlines the application process, and delivers measurable results for both students and partners. Whether it’s helping students secure funding or enabling brands to run impactful campaigns, we’re reshaping how education is funded — and discovered.

The Role

Reports to: Director of Sales

Compensation: Strong base salary + uncapped commission structure with clear accelerators for over-performance.

We are looking for a proactive, results‑oriented Account Executive (Full Cycle) to take strong ownership of our revenue growth through consistent, targeted outbound prospecting and strategic closing. This is a high-impact, mid‑to‑senior level role designed for a true “hunter” who thrives on turning cold opportunities into high‑quality, long‑term B2B clients for our SSC and Pro product lines.

This role runs in two gears: sharp and disciplined in creating pipeline — targeted, creative outbound to a defined ICP, disciplined qualification, and efficiently filtering out deals that aren’t a fit — and consultative once you’re in the room, where discovery and product education come before the pitch and multi‑stakeholder deals are won on understanding, not pressure.

In this role, you won’t just wait for inbound leads—you will own the entire sales lifecycle. From dedicated outbound prospecting and strategic qualification to leading compelling product demos and closing complex deals, you will drive the pipeline that fuels our expansion. If you are motivated by building a robust book of business from scratch and find purpose in driving net‑new revenue, you’ll thrive in this position.

What You’ll Be Selling

Sponsored Scholarship Campaigns (SSC) — Our flagship product, and a performance marketing channel rather than a philanthropy program. It’s built on the foundation of something GenZ is already looking for: scholarships, not ads. The brand earns the next generation of customers, and students earn financial aid. We build the campaign with the client and run the scholarship end to end, so the brand reaches a US GenZ audience through a channel that’s permission‑based by design rather than interruptive, and generates first‑party, opt‑in insights at scale.

What that solves varies by client, and learning to read which version you’re selling is a real part of the job: customer and user acquisition, lead generation, recruiting pipeline, content, or serious brand engagement with the next generation of buyers. Your buyer is typically a Growth Manager or marketing lead at a brand or agency that sells to Gen Z, and you’re competing for performance marketing budget against paid social and search, not against other scholarship platforms.

ScholarshipOwl Pro — Scholarship management for organizations already running their own scholarship programs in cumbersome or inefficient ways: shorter cycle, more operational, philanthropic buyer, and a second motion alongside SSC.

What You’ll Do

Relentless Prospecting: Execute high‑volume daily outbound campaigns (calls, emails, LinkedIn) to hunt for net‑new opportunities and consistently book discovery meetings.

Full‑Cycle Ownership: Run the entire sales process from initial cold outreach and aggressive qualification to running product demos, sending proposals, and closing deals.

Data‑Driven Pipeline Triage: Actively manage your sales funnel within HubSpot, performing regular pipeline reviews to prioritize high‑value opportunities and ruthlessly cut weak leads.

Drive Revenue & Velocity: Take absolute ownership of your targets, driving urgency in deal cycles to progress opportunities through late‑stage negotiations and contract signing.

Hit Major Milestones: Our sales cycle runs four to six months, so your first quarter is about building. Deliver $175–300K in qualified pipeline (approx. 20–30 qualified meetings) in your first 90 days, and close your first net‑new deal within six months.

Iterate & Optimize: Continuously refine your outreach messaging and campaign targeting based on performance metrics to maximize conversion rates.
