Job description

About the Company

Our client is one of the largest privately held Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs) in the world, supporting businesses across a broad range of industries and company sizes. With a global workforce spanning more than 65 countries and a diverse portfolio of business entities, the organization provides its sales team with the flexibility and resources to serve organizations ranging from small and midsize businesses to enterprise companies.

The company is experiencing significant growth and is expanding its Business Consultant team. This is an opportunity to join a high-growth organization where ambitious sales professionals can build their own book of business, work with a broad range of clients, and take advantage of an uncapped commission structure.

The Business Consultant is an outside-sales role responsible for identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities. You will own the sales process from prospecting and initial appointment through negotiation, closing, implementation, and post-sale relationship management.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, self-directed sales professional who thrives on generating new business, building relationships with decision-makers, and consistently exceeding sales goals. You will leverage networking, referrals, channel partners, self-generated opportunities, and the company's broader lead-generation resources to develop a strong pipeline.

This position is not remote and requires regular interaction with prospective clients in the field, as well as time in the office. The role offers flexibility in how you manage your day while maintaining a strong focus on activity, appointments, new business, and revenue production.

What You'll Do
New Business Development & Prospecting
  • Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities within your market.
  • Generate leads through networking, referrals, channel partnerships, prospecting, and self-generated opportunities.
  • Develop relationships with business owners, executives, HR leaders, and other key decision-makers.
  • Conduct strategic prospecting to gain access to prospective clients.
  • Schedule and conduct initial appointments and sales presentations.
  • Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline and consistently create new opportunities.
  • Leverage the company's extensive lead-generation resources as you establish a track record of success.
Sales & Business Consulting
  • Conduct discovery conversations to understand a prospect's business, workforce, operational, and organizational needs.
  • Analyze client needs and recommend appropriate products, services, and solutions.
  • Develop customized proposals and executive-level presentations.
  • Negotiate pricing, scope of services, and terms with prospective clients.
  • Maintain ownership of the entire sales cycle from initial prospecting through close.
  • Complete all required sales documentation and finalize client service agreements.
  • Consistently meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales objectives.
  • Track sales activity, opportunities, forecasts, and results using Salesforce.
Client Relationship & Implementation
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients throughout the implementation process and beyond.
  • Schedule and conduct regular client meetings to address questions, concerns, and implementation needs.
  • Partner cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure an efficient and successful client experience.
  • Ensure services delivered to assigned clients are accurate, timely, and aligned with expectations.
  • Collect and analyze relevant business data to provide strategic guidance and identify additional opportunities.
Market & Industry Development
  • Stay current on industry trends, products, services, and evolving business practices.
  • Monitor competitor activity and identify potential competitive threats and opportunities.
  • Continuously expand your knowledge of the company's solutions and the PEO, HCM, HR, payroll, and benefits landscape.
  • Participate in training, webinars, consulting meetings, industry conferences, and professional development opportunities.
  • Share knowledge, best practices, and successful sales strategies with other team members.
What Success Looks Like
  • Initial appointments (IAs)
  • New business opportunities generated
  • Deals closed / units
  • Number of employees represented by newly acquired clients
  • Revenue and sales performance
  • Pipeline health and forecast accuracy
  • Consistently achieving or exceeding assigned sales quotas
  • Performance expectations will be aligned with a candidate's level of experience and prior sales background.
Work Environment & Travel

This is an outside-sales position, not a remote role. Business Consultants spend significant time in the field meeting with prospects and clients, while also maintaining a presence at their assigned office location.

Travel may include client visits, company meetings, customer events, industry conferences, training sessions, and other business activities. Travel may involve personal or company-provided transportation, rideshare, ground transportation, or air travel as needed.

The organization provides flexibility in how successful sales professionals manage their schedules, with an emphasis on results, activity, client engagement, and business
