OpenAI is seeking an Account Director focused on Strategic Banking in New York City. You will own executive relationships with leading banks and guide deployment of AI solutions to transform experiences, risk, and operations.

In collaboration with researchers and engineers, you will design pilots, manage revenue targets, and mentor teams while navigating a highly regulated environment and representing OpenAI at industry events.

Qualifications

  • 14+ years selling complex enterprise software or SaaS.
  • 4+ years selling to large global banking organizations.
  • Track record of >$2M annual revenue in regulated industries.
  • Experience with C-suite relationships (CIOs, CTOs, Heads of Digital, Operations, Risk).
  • Ability to design scalable sales motions and partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a focused portfolio of Strategic Banking accounts and develop long-term strategic account plans.
  • Lead complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles across business, technology, operations, and executive stakeholders.
  • Partner with Solutions and Research Engineering to design pilots with measurable business impact.
  • Collaborate with compliance, privacy, security, and risk teams to ensure responsible AI deployments.
  • Own a revenue and consumption target; manage forecasts and pipeline reporting.
  • Monitor banking industry, regulatory, and AI trends to guide customer and product strategy.
  • Represent OpenAI at industry conferences and thought leadership events (Money20/20, Sibos, ABA).
  • Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Partnerships, and Communications to build the Strategic Banking go-to-market motion.

In pursuit of this mission, our Go To Market (GTM) team is responsible for helping customers learn how to leverage and deploy our highly capable AI products across their business. The team is made of Sales, Solutions, Support, Marketing, and Partnership professionals that work together to create valuable solutions that will help bring AI to as many users as possible.

About the role

As an Account Director focused on Strategic Banking you will own executive-level relationships with leading global banking institutions. You’ll help these organizations safely and effectively deploy OpenAI’s technology to transform customer experiences, modernize operations, enhance employee productivity, accelerate financial analysis, strengthen risk management, and unlock new AI-powered business capabilities.

This role blends financial services expertise, technical depth, business acumen, and relationship-driven enterprise sales. You will collaborate closely with researchers, engineers, and financial services solution strategists to design secure, compliant, and high-impact AI deployments.

This role is based in New York City. We use a hybrid work model of three days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.

  • 14+ total years selling complex enterprise software or platform-as-a-service solutions.
  • 4+ years selling to large global banking organizations.
  • Proven success achieving annual revenue targets >$2M+ in regulated industries.
  • Experience managing C-suite relationships, including CIOs, CTOs, Heads of Digital, Operations, Risk, and Lines of Business.
  • Strong understanding of banking workflows across retail banking, commercial banking, investment banking, capital markets, payments, or wealth management.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute complex deal and partnership strategies.
  • Are customer-centric and can translate complex business needs into transformative AI solutions.
  • Are a builder who enjoys designing scalable systems and repeatable sales motions from the ground up.
  • Are a strategist who anticipates industry shifts and guides enterprise customers through them.
  • Are energized by ambiguity and motivated to create structure and clarity across complex, cross-functional engagements.
