Job summary

Minnesota Council of Nonprofits is seeking an Accommodations Coordinator on campus. The role provides admin support for Disability and Access Services and the Vice President of Community and Belonging, with test coordination and note-taking arrangements for students with disabilities.

  • Manage Disability and Access website and delegated email account.
  • Manage the AIM software program, data input, and reporting.
  • Coordinate alternate test-taking accommodations for exams (approx. 1500/year for ~500 students).
  • Hire readers/scribes for exams and manage accommodations records.
  • Assist in delivering accommodation services to students with disabilities.
  • Provide administrative support to the Vice President of Community and Belonging.
  • Process expense reports and support divisional events and website updates.
  • Support, respect, and promote inclusive community principles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Position Title: Accommodations Coordinator.

Department: Disability and Access (DAC) (0.83 FTE) / Division of Community and Belonging (0.17 FTE).

Classification: Non-Exempt.

FTE: 1.0.

Work Schedule: 40 hours/week, 8:30 am- 5:00 pm with a 30-minute lunch break in between, some evenings and weekends required for testing accommodations during peak times and for events.

Work Location: On Campus.

Hourly Rate: $21 - $23.

Position Overview

This position has two main responsibilities: about 33 hours per week will be dedicated to providing administrative support and test center coordination for the office of Disability and Access. The remaining 7 hours per week will be dedicated to providing administrative support for the Vice President of Community and Belonging. The exact mix of hours will vary throughout the year, depending on what is more pressing given the ebbs and flows of the academic year.

Essential Job Duties
  • Provide Administrative Support for Disability and Access Services.
    • Greet prospective students and their families in person and over the phone and provide information about DAC services.
    • Order supplies such as paper for livescribe pens, ear plugs, white noise machines
    • Manage all assistive technology software licenses (e.g. Glean, etc.).
    • Manage the Disability and Access website and delegated email account.
    • Manage the AIM software program, data input, and reporting.
  • Manage alternate test-taking accommodations (approximately 1500 exams/year for approximately 500 students).
    • Manage testing accommodations in AIM software program.
    • Email confirmation to students and faculty.
    • Distribute exams to students and back to faculty.
    • Manage record-keeping using accommodations management software.
    • Hire readers/scribes for exams.
  • Assist in the delivery of accommodation services to students with disabilities.
    • Manage note-taking services, including identifying notetakers, communicating with notetakers, handling payment, and record-keeping using accommodations management software, including hiring notetakers each semester and interim.
    • Convert textbooks into PDFs and scan them into software for audio.
    • Convert course PDFs into an accessible format, assist with captioning of videos.
    • Ensure assistive technology or furniture is in place (chairs, audio devices, microphones, etc.).
    • Manage check-out of equipment such as livescribe pens, blue light-reducing glasses, etc.
    • Set up Livescribe pen kits each semester.
    • Provide general administrative support to manage the delivery of approved accommodations for students.
  • Provide administrative support to the Vice President of Community and Belonging.
    • Process expense reports.
    • Provide administrative and logistical support for events sponsored by the VPCB (divisional retreats, lunches, receptions, etc.).
    • Support the VPCB in planning Posse events and retreats.
    • Manage edits and updates to the divisional website.
  • Support, respect, and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view to build a strong and inclusive community.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervision Received and Exercised
  • Reports to the Director of the Disability and Access Center / Vice President for Community and Belonging.
  • This position does not supervise anyone.
Required Qualifications
  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience:
    • 3+ years of relevant office or administrative experience, and strong computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience:
    • Previous experience providing academic support or advising; experience supervising student employees; experience managing website and software applications.

  • Employment in this position is conditioned upon successful completion of a background check which may include: criminal background checks, reference checks, verification of work history, verification of any required academic credentials, licenses, and/or certifications, a motor vehicle check, verification of DOT certification, a credit check, employment eligibility verification, and/or a pre-employment physical.
