Equus Workforce Solutions in Dayton, OH is seeking a dedicated education program specialist to manage cognitive disabilities caseloads within the Job Corps program. You will review documents, coordinate with the IDT, and design training plans to support student goals.

You will establish rapport with students and instructors, provide small-group tutoring, train staff on learning support, and ensure accommodations are implemented across education and testing settings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Two to three years related work experience preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse youth.
  • Valid driver’s license in state of employment with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Case management of cognitive disabilities, including folder review, document collection, IDT collaboration, and planning trainings to support students’ goals.
  • Maintain a high degree of discipline within the classroom to maximize learning.
  • Establishes strong student–instructor rapport.
  • Provide small-group instruction and tutoring for students with special needs.
  • Train all staff on learning support/disabilities and ensure accommodations in education and testing settings.
  • Coordinate living arrangements and pre-arrival contacts for new disabled students; ensure requirements are met.
  • Work with Regional Office and Health Services Administrator to ensure applicant appropriateness.
  • Perform vocational assessments for students needing learning support.
  • Develop work experience sites and coordinate placements for disabled students.
  • Develop referrals to Health Services for speech therapy, psychological evaluations, etc.
  • Operate in accordance with PRH requirements and corporate policies.
  • Evaluate and record student progress and case notes in CIS.

Job Description
  • Responsible for case management of all cognitive disabilities, including folder review, collection of required documents, IDT team collaboration, TABE testing review, and development of academic and career technical training plans to support students’ goals and success.
  • Maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom to ensure maximum learning.
  • Establishes a strong student–instructor rapport.
  • Provides small‑group instruction and tutoring as needed for students with special needs.
  • Trains all staff on learning support/disabilities and ensures students receive appropriate accommodations in education, testing, and training settings.
  • Participates in initial screening of disabled students, assesses needs and ability to benefit from the Job Corps Program, and coordinates living quarters prior to arrival. Makes pre‑arrival contact with new disabled students to ensure all requirements are met.
  • Works closely with the Regional Office and Health Services Administrator to ensure appropriateness of applicants prior to input.
  • Performs vocational assessments for all students needing learning support.
  • Processes accommodation requests for classroom and testing in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Develops work experience sites and coordinates placement for disabled students.
  • Assists in completing all required Job Corps forms.
  • Establishes contacts with state and community agencies representing the disabled and acts as liaison between these agencies and the Center.
  • Develops referrals to and receives reports from Health Services regarding speech therapy, psychological evaluations, and special health issues, providing appropriate follow‑up.
  • Operates in accordance with PRH requirements, Standard Operating Procedures, and corporate policies.
  • Evaluates and records student progress, evaluations, and case notes in CIS as appropriate.
  • Clearly communicates and consistently models appropriate CSS and employability skills.
  • Maintains accountability of staff, students, and property.
  • Adheres to safety practices in all areas of responsibility.
  • Fosters and maintains a respectful, harassment‑free environment supportive of both staff and student learning.
  • Attends all required staff training sessions.
Qualifications

  • Two to three years related work experience preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse youth.
