Job summary

24 Seven Talent is partnering with a premium bag and accessories brand to hire an experienced Accessories Product Designer (Luggage & Backpacks) who will shape the future of its product line through concept to production. The role requires collaborating with leadership, pattern makers, sample makers, and manufacturing partners.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years designing luggage, strong portfolio, and expertise in bag construction, materials, and production documentation.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years designing backpacks, bags or luggage (specifically luggage).
  • Direct experience developing commercially produced backpacks.
  • Strong portfolio showing products in production.
  • Deep understanding of bag construction, sewing, materials, hardware, and manufacturing.
  • Experience taking products through full development lifecycle.
  • Strong sketching and technical drawing skills.
  • Experience creating production-ready specs and construction docs.

Responsibilities

  • Design backpacks, travel bags, work bags, accessories, and other sewn soft goods from concept through production.
  • Create innovative product concepts aligned with the brand’s design philosophy.
  • Develop product architecture, usability, comfort, and construction solutions based on customer needs.
  • Create sketches, technical drawings, tech packs, specifications, and construction documentation.
  • Build, evaluate, and refine multiple prototype rounds.
  • Partner with pattern makers, sample makers, sourcing teams, and production.
  • Select materials, hardware, foams, webbing, zippers, and components.
  • Conduct competitive research, wear testing, ergonomic evaluations, and prototype reviews.
  • Collaborate with leadership on the product roadmap, opportunities, and priorities.
  • Help improve product-development processes and documentation standards.

We’re partnering with a highly respected premium bag and accessories brand looking for an experienced Accessories Product Designer (Luggage & Backpacks- Specializes in Roller Luggage) to help shape the future of its product line while maintaining the craftsmanship and attention to detail it is known for.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in hands‑on product development and enjoys taking products from concept through production while collaborating closely with leadership, pattern makers, sample makers, and manufacturing partners.

*They are open to candidates that are not based in Seattle (that can travel quarterly to Seattle). Or a Candidate that will relocate on their own.*

What You’ll Do:
  • Design backpacks, travel bags, work bags, accessories, and other sewn soft goods from concept through production.
  • Create innovative product concepts while staying true to the brand’s design philosophy.
  • Develop product architecture, organization, usability, comfort, and construction solutions based on customer needs.
  • Create sketches, technical drawings, tech packs, specifications, and construction documentation.
  • Build, evaluate, and refine multiple prototype rounds.
  • Partner directly with pattern makers, sample makers, sourcing teams, and production.
  • Select materials, hardware, foams, webbing, zippers, and components.
  • Conduct competitive research, wear testing, ergonomic evaluations, and prototype reviews.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on the annual product roadmap, new product opportunities, and development priorities.
  • Help improve product-development processes and documentation standards.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience designing backpacks, bags, luggage, outdoor equipment, or other sewn soft goods. (Specifically Luggage)
  • Direct experience developing commercially produced backpacks.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing products that have gone into production.
  • Deep understanding of bag construction, sewing methods, pattern development, materials, hardware, and manufacturing.
  • Experience taking products through the full development lifecycle.
  • Strong sketching, technical drawing, and visual communication skills.
  • Experience creating production-ready specifications and construction documentation.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator and CAD or 3D design software.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Experience:
  • Technical, outdoor, travel, cycling, military, or performance backpack design.
  • Suspension systems, shoulder straps, back panels, framesheets, and structured carry systems.
  • Working directly with domestic and overseas factories.
  • Wear testing, ergonomic evaluations, and customer research.
  • Premium textiles, laminates, foams, molded components, and custom hardware.
  • Experience balancing design, manufacturability, cost, quality, and customer experience.
