Job summary

Cincinnati Metro is hiring an Access Utility Worker to fuel, prepare, and maintain paratransit vehicles, ensuring safety, reliability, and readiness for riders who depend on door-to-door transit services.

This role covers fueling, logging, cleaning, and housekeeping duties, with paid training and opportunities for career growth. Eligible employees receive a comprehensive benefits package and pay progression.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • At least 18 years old.
  • No more than 4 points on motor vehicle report.
  • Customer service experience preferred.
  • Experience driving large vehicles preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure vehicles are fueled and fluids topped off and ready for service.
  • Maintain fuel logs for each vehicle and fuel/fluid type.
  • Park vehicles according to the facility parking plan.
  • Maintain fuel island cleanliness; report spills.
  • Comply with OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Perform general housekeeping and janitorial duties.
  • Safely handle cleaning equipment and chemicals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

As an Access Utility Worker at Metro, you do more than routine maintenance work— you perform mission-driven, people-focused service and play a vital role in ensuring our Access Paratransit vehicles are safe, reliable, and ready to serve our riders who depend on door-to-door transit services.

In this role, you will be responsible for all functions related to vehicle fueling, preparing vehicles for daily service, and completing general janitorial and housekeeping duties. This position plays a critical role in ensuring vehicles are safe, clean, properly fueled, and ready for service at various times throughout the day.

Access Utility Worker Compensation

Metro offers paid training for those who wish to become a Transit Technician but do not currently possess a commercial driver’s license and passenger endorsement.

Access Utility Worker Starting Pay Rate:

$20.44 / HR with yearly pay increases

Access Utility Worker Job Duties, Physical Demands, & Qualifications
Job Duties
  • Ensure all vehicles are completely fueled and fluids are topped off and ready for service
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date fuel logs for each vehicle and fuel/fluid type
  • Park vehicles according to the facility parking plan
  • Maintain fuel island cleanliness; immediately contain and report any spills
  • Maintain work areas in compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations
  • Perform general housekeeping and janitorial duties
  • Safely handle cleaning equipment and chemicals
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
