Job summary

NextGen Technologies is seeking an Access Control Technician for our North Charleston, SC area. You will install, configure and test access control systems, CCTV, NVRs, and related low-voltage equipment while building strong professional relationships with clients.

The role involves installing cabling, programming panels, and troubleshooting system performance, with attention to safety and quality. A valid driver's license and ability to lift up to 100 lbs are required.

Qualifications

• Two years of practical experience in access control and CCTV installation.
• Low-voltage Cat5/Cat6 cabling, fiber, and alarm systems.
• Basic electrical knowledge and circuit tracing.
• Proficient with Word and Excel; clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and configure access control equipment and CCTV systems.
• Install and terminate low-voltage cabling and pathways.
• Program access control panels and CCTV/NVRs.
• Test system functionality and troubleshoot power and network issues.
• Documentation of cable routes and system configurations.
• Support customers and colleagues with installations and service calls.

Access Control Technician

Location: North Charleston, SC

NextGen Technologies is a low-voltage contractor seeking an Access Control Technician who takes pride in delivering excellent service and building professional relationships with colleagues and clients.

Primary Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and configure surveillance and access control equipment, with or without direct supervision, including card readers, request-to-exit devices, electrified door hardware, access control panels, analog and IP cameras, network video recorders (NVRs), power supplies, and cable pathway systems.
• Install and terminate twisted-pair, low-voltage, coaxial, and other applicable cabling.
• Program access control panels and systems.
• Install and program CCTV systems, including analog and IP cameras.
• Install and program NVRs and video management systems (VMS).
• Test and troubleshoot network cable distance, power loads, AC/DC power, Power over Ethernet (PoE), analog CCTV, access control, and burglar alarm systems.
• Install cable pathway systems; install, terminate, test, label, and document horizontal, backbone, and other cables.

Systems We Install

Our work includes the following products and systems:

• Access Control: S2 Access Control, Paxton, Speco Technologies, Sielox, Avigilon, and Hanwha.
• Cameras: Hanwha, Speco Technologies, and Avigilon.
• Security Systems: Honeywell VISTA, DSC, and Qolsys.

Basic Qualifications

• Two years of practical experience in access control and CCTV installation, low-voltage Cat5 and Cat6 voice and data cabling, fiber, and burglar and fire alarm systems.
• Basic electrical knowledge, including measuring power and consumption and tracing circuits.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Clean driving record.
• Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 100 pounds, work at heights above 10 feet, and work in confined areas.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent.
