Job summary

TradeSTAR is seeking an experienced Lead Security Technician to oversee commercial security installations in North San Antonio. You will lead crews, install and test access control, CCTV, and intrusion systems, read blueprints and specifications, and coordinate schedules with project managers.

Qualified candidates have extensive hands-on experience with commercial security systems and a Texas Security Installer License, plus strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

As a Lead Security Technician, you'll combine your technical experience with hands‑on leadership to oversee installations, troubleshoot systems, and ensure projects are completed safely and professionally. What You'll Do

• Lead and coordinate crews of security installers and technicians on commercial projects.
• Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot access control, CCTV, and intrusion detection systems.
• Work with card readers, magnetic locks, electric strikes, door position switches, request-to-exit devices, and panic hardware.
• Install and troubleshoot IP surveillance cameras and associated cabling.
• Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications to determine equipment locations and cable pathways.
• Perform system testing, identify installation problems, and resolve technical issues.
• Coordinate material requirements, installation schedules, and daily work assignments.
• Communicate project progress and technical concerns to supervisors and project managers.
• Maintain high standards for workmanship, safety, and installation quality.

What We're Looking For

• Extensive hands‑on experience installing commercial electronic security systems.
• Previous experience leading security installation crews.
• Strong knowledge of access control, CCTV, and intrusion alarm systems.
• Experience installing electric strikes, magnetic locks, panic bars, motion detectors, and related security hardware.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and installation drawings.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and familiarity with electronic testing equipment.
• Ability to work independently, solve problems, and direct technicians effectively.
• Current Texas Security Installer License.
• Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
• Reliable transportation and a commitment to safe work practices.
