UVA Health - Patient Access Representative

Access team members are the face of UVA Health, often being the first and last contact for patients, setting the tone for each visit.

This patient-focused role involves responsibilities such as appointment scheduling, demographic and insurance data collection, cash collections, and addressing patient and family needs in person or on the phone.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Schedule appointments with correct provider and all necessary information, coordinating same-day appointments when available.
  2. Educate patients, guardians, or designees on managed care processes, communicate authorizations, and review potential financial obligations.
  3. Advocate for patients and coordinate multi-visit scheduling.
  4. Provide exceptional customer service to facilitate access to Medical Services at UVA Health System.
  5. Document requests accurately and completely.
  6. Investigate and resolve or escalate problems and conflicts.
  7. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Additional Details:
  • Qualified candidates may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of $3,500, paid in two installments with a 2-year service agreement.
  • Position Compensation Range: $17.31 - $26.83 hourly.
Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience; cross-trained Access Associates may be considered in lieu of experience.
  • No licensure required.
Physical Demands:

Sitting for prolonged periods, repetitive computer and mouse use, and proficient communication skills are required. Adequate auditory and visual skills, attention to detail, and clear writing are essential.
