Job summary

Accenture Construct in California seeks a licensed engineer to lead field inspection and manage multi‑jurisdictional bridge projects. You will drive QA, safety and process discipline on complex program work at client sites.

As a senior field engineer, you will oversee contractor compliance, coordinate with public agencies, and produce thorough reports, change orders, and funding documentation to keep programs on track.

Qualifications

• Eight years of roadway/highway construction inspection on major public works projects.
• Caltrans-administered or federally funded highway project experience.
• Experience in structural mechanics or bridge construction inspection.

Responsibilities

• Deliver complex, multi‑jurisdictional bridge and roadway improvement projects.
• Support Resident Engineer with field oversight, inspection, QA, and contract administration.
• Perform daily inspections and QA for bridge and roadway construction.
• Verify contractor work against plans and specs.
• Coordinate with contractors, utilities, public agencies and CM consultants.
• Review submittals, RFIs, schedules and documentation.
• Oversee materials testing and sampling to ensure compliance.
• Support contract administration including change orders and pay estimates.
• Track progress and prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports.
• Perform calculations for grade, alignment, quantities, falsework, shoring, structural components.
• Collaborate with CM Consultants including staking, materials testing, environmental monitoring.

THE WORK:

• You’ll play a pivotal role in delivering complex, multi-jurisdictional bridge and roadway improvement projects.
• You’ll support the Resident Engineer with field oversight, inspection, quality assurance, and contract administration throughout all phases of construction.
• You’ll perform and oversee daily inspections and quality assurance activities for bridge and roadway construction.
• You’ll verify contractor work for conformance with approved plans, specifications, and special provisions.
• You’ll coordinate with contractors, utilities, public agencies, and Construction Management Consultants to resolve field issues and minimize delays.
• You’ll review contractor submittals, RFI responses, progress schedules, and other project documentation.
• You’ll oversee and document construction materials testing and sampling to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• You’ll support contract administration, including change order preparation and negotiation, pay estimates, correspondence, and claims documentation.
• You’ll track contractor progress and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
• You’ll perform or support calculations for grade, alignment, quantities, falsework, shoring, and structural components throughout construction, from foundation and falsework through bridge deck placement and roadway tie-ins.
• You’ll collaborate closely with Construction Management Consultants, including staking, materials testing, and environmental monitoring teams.

Onsite at client site : This is a leadership role to help manage the construction management team as well as oversee the contractor's compliance with the Contract. The work location for this role is onsite with our clients and partners to enable delivery and cultivate our client relationships.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

• California Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)preferred, Engineer In Training (EIT) required.
• Eight (8) yearsof roadway/highway construction inspection and field engineering experience on major public works projects
• One (1) Caltrans-administered or federally funded highway project
• Minimum three (3) yearsof experience in structural mechanics, stress analysis, or bridge construction inspection

BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE:

• Demonstrated knowledge of concrete and steel bridge materials, falsework, and shoring systems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for coordination with contractors and public agencies
• Proficiency in Caltrans construction documentation standards, E-builder/PMCS systems, and Microsoft Office
• Experience as Assistant or Resident Engineer on bridge or river crossing projects
• Experience working for a heavy civil contractor performing roadway or bridge work.
• Ability to lead field inspection staff and make timely, technically sound field decisions
• Familiarity with environmental compliance and stormwater management on Caltrans projects
• Prior work with Riverside County, City of Riverside, or Caltrans District 8 is highly desirable
• Experience on tolling, smart corridor, or ITS-equipped roadway projects
