Fermilab’s Accelerator Division seeks an Accelerator Operator I to support particle accelerators, beam transport systems, and experimental beamlines. You will learn through an extensive OJT program in the Main Control Room and work with a team to operate and tune accelerators while monitoring systems, alarms, and interlocks.

The role emphasizes safety, training, and collaboration with physicists, engineers, and technicians to ensure reliable operation and continuous learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Physics required or equivalent.
• Ability to complete Accelerator Operator I OJT/qualification program.
• Willingness to learn accelerator operation and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Learn accelerator operations through extensive OJT in the Main Control Room.
• Operate particle accelerators and beam transport systems.
• Monitor beam conditions, alarms, interlocks, and operating parameters.
• Analyze problems and troubleshoot accelerator control systems.
• Maintain logs and shift documentation.
