The Bakersfield City School District seeks an Academy Program Specialist to support planning and implementation of the Academy Program curriculum and related activities. Candidates should hold a California teaching credential and have at least three years of K-6 classroom experience; STEAM and visual/ performing arts exposure is desirable, with ability to work evenings.

This role reports to Extended Learning and may supervise staff; salary ranges from $77,973 to $137,256 annually for 190 days,

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, developing and implementing academy and regular instructional program curriculum and activities.
  • Assist in planning, developing and implementing school site professional development programs.
  • Assist in planning, writing and evaluating academy program activities.
  • Assist teachers in selection of appropriate materials to meet individual student needs.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, coordinating and monitoring academy program activities master schedule.
  • Provide direct services to students during regular day to blend with Academy program.
  • Assist in assignment of and evaluation of academy program personnel.
  • Conduct parent-teacher-student conferences as needed.
  • Maintain necessary records and files.
  • Attend meetings as assigned by principal.
  • Model personal and professional values of equity, integrity, caring, collaboration, personal and collective accountability.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Goal

To assist school staff in planning, developing and implementing the Academy Program curriculum and activities along with enhancing the school's general instructional program.

Performance Responsibilities

Salary

$77,973 - $137,256 annually (190 days. Max. salary includes education and shift differential stipends)

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the District's "Improvement of Professional Services" handbook, Board Policies and Procedures and consistent with collective bargaining agreements when applicable.

Conditions Of Employment

Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operator's license. Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter, as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act.
