Job summary

Management & Training Corporation in Woodville, MS is hiring educators to provide instruction to inmates at The Wilkinson County Correctional Facility. Instructors will deliver classes in ABE and GED, following ACA, MDOC, and MTC directives.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher; one year related experience preferred; a valid driver’s license in MS or LA with acceptable driving record. Full-time, Mon-Fri, 8-5.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher required.
• One year related experience preferred.
• A valid driver’s license in the state of Mississippi or Louisiana with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to inmates in accordance with approved curricula.
• Plan and conduct classes for inmates in Adult Basic Education (ABE) and General Education Development (GED), life skills, cultural awareness, health education and other subjects.
• Prepare special teaching plans, courses, and activities and learning experiences appropriate for the specific inmates assigned.
• Utilize appropriate audio and visual teaching materials individualized to the inmate’s needs.
• Administer individual educational tests and learning aptitude tests and use the results for prescriptive instruction.
• Counsel and advise inmates on academic problems.
• It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Job responsibilities:

Instructors are responsible for providing instruction to inmates in accordance with approved curricula. Provide inmates with basic direction in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management & Training Corporation (MTC), and Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) directives.

Essential Functions

• Plan and conduct classes for inmates in Adult Basic Education (ABE) and General Education Development (GED), life sills, cultural awareness, health education and special curriculum and other subjects selected to correspond with the ability and limitations of the class.
• Prepare special teaching plans, courses, and activities and learning experiences appropriate for the specific inmates assigned.
• Utilize appropriate audio and visual teaching materials individualized to the specific need of the inmate.
• Administer individual educational tests and learning aptitude tests and use the results for prescriptive instruction.
• Participate in staff conferences to develop and improve educational programs.
• Counsel and advise inmates on academic problems.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
