Job summary

Baylor Scott and White Medical Center – Temple in Temple, TX seeks mid-career Academic Trauma and Acute Care Surgeons to join the Division of Trauma & Acute Care Surgery. BC/BE in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care is required, with opportunities for early leadership in a large academic system.

Clinical duties include trauma evaluations, rounding, OR coverage, and academic duties such as lectures, mentoring, ATLS/ATOM/ASSET instruction, and research across the three pillars of Acute Care

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree and board certification required.
• Fellowship in Trauma, Surgical Critical Care or Acute Care Surgery is required.
• Active Texas medical license or eligibility.
• Experience with trauma care and emergency general surgery preferred.
• ATLS instruction qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluation of all trauma and emergency general surgery consults.
• Rounding for STICU and Trauma Acute Care Surgery Services.
• OR coverage for Trauma, Emergency General Surgery, and Elective General Surgery.
• Lecture and teaching responsibilities for residents and medical students.
• Mentorship for residents, medical students and APP students.
• Involvement in ATLS, ATOM, ASSET courses and research projects.

Education

MD/DO degree

Fellowship in Trauma, Surgical Critical Care or Acute Care Surgery

Board Certification by the American Board of Surgery or Osteopathic Board Certification

Texas Medical License

Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (when qualified)

ATLS instructor qualification preferred
