World-class teaching hospital in New York City is seeking a dual vascular trained neurosurgeon to bolster their stroke/vascular neurosurgery service line. The group is ready to welcome new and experienced neurosurgeons alike and is eager to provide mentorship for younger neurosurgeons.
This Health System includes 3 hospitals and more than 80 community-based practices and outpatient centers. Its flagship hospital is one of the largest independent teaching hospitals in the nation. Its programs rank best in the country for patient outcomes, including its Neurosciences Institute and Cancer Center. The hospital is dedicated to fostering a culture of innovation and focusing on clinical excellence with a patient-centered approach.
Position Highlights:
* Immediate volume of neurovascular cases available with opportunity to grow the service line
* ~150 cases first year, 250+ when established
* ~70-80% vascular/cranial case mix; option to do other types of cases
* Vascular and general call schedule is 1:3, will be aligned with backup call
* PA’s handle all consults on general call
* Comprehensive Stroke Center
* Hospital Employs Stroke Neurologists and Neurocritical Care Physicians
* OR Block time is available
* Research funding available and active clinical trials
* Clinical faculty appointment possible at affiliated medical university
* Ability to teach medical students, non-neurosurgery residents and fellows, and PA’s
* Latest technology available–no equipment limitations including bi-plane angiosuite, O-Arm, MRI, CT, image guided neuro-navigation
* 11 neurosurgical PAs do consults and assist in OR and do all floor work
* Catchment size: 3 million people
* 13-bed Surgical ICU
