Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking an experienced Physician - Academic Surgical Oncologist to join our Department of Surgery. The ideal candidate specializes in gastrointestinal malignancies and peritoneal surface diseases and will contribute to clinical care, education, and research within our comprehensive cancer program.

Qualifications

• MD/DO or equivalent required.
• Board certification or eligibility in General Surgery and Complex General Surgical Oncology.
• Eligible for medical licensure in Missouri and Kansas.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, complex surgical treatment, and longitudinal management of GI malignancies and peritoneal surface diseases.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (medical/radiation oncology, radiology, pathology, gastroenterology, primary care) to develop individualized treatment plans.
• Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards, inpatient consultations, shared call coverage, and oversee pre-operative, operative, post-operative, and survivorship care.
• Engage in clinical, translational, or outcomes research and contribute to scholarly activity and peer‑reviewed publications.
• Participate in medical education and mentorship of residents and medical students.
