Job summary

Prep Academy Tutors in San Diego is hiring Academic Mentors to support student-athletes during the school day on-site. You will work with small groups, help them stay on track academically, complete assignments, and develop effective study habits.

This role is ideal for aspiring teachers, recent graduates, substitute teachers, graduate students, or anyone passionate about education and mentoring student-athletes through structured, supportive coaching.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or be actively working toward one.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to explain concepts clearly and encourage independence.
• Experience with middle/high school students encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Support students with daily assignments across a variety of subjects.
• Work with small groups of 10–15 students during academic periods.
• Answer questions, reinforce instruction, and help students stay organized.
• Encourage productive study habits and accountability.
• Communicate regularly with staff regarding student progress.
• Collaborate professionally with academy staff.

About The Position We're hiring Academic Mentors to support student-athletes during the school day. This is an on-site position where you'll work with small groups of students, helping them stay on track academically while creating a positive and structured learning environment. Rather than teaching a traditional classroom, you'll act as an academic coach, helping students complete assignments, strengthen their understanding of course material, and develop effective study habits. This is a great opportunity for aspiring teachers, recent graduates, substitute teachers, graduate students, or anyone passionate about education.

Responsibilities

• Support students with daily assignments across a variety of academic subjects.
• Work with small groups of approximately 10–15 students during scheduled academic periods.
• Answer questions, reinforce classroom instruction, and help students stay organized.
• Encourage productive study habits, accountability, and academic confidence.
• Adapt your support to students with different learning styles and academic needs.
• Communicate regularly with Prep Academy Tutors staff regarding student progress and any concerns.
• Collaborate professionally with academy staff to ensure students receive consistent support.
